IWAY, the IKEA way of responsibly procuring products, services, materials and components, is an approach that contributes to responsible sourcing in the total value chain and is one of the enablers for IKEA to become people and planet positive. One important part of the IWAY System is to secure and maintain the external assurance setup, via 3rd party audits, for IWAY and other sustainability systems and standards (such as raw materials) in the IKEA Supply part of the value chain. This is crucial to ensure the integrity, independence and credibility of the IKEA Responsible Sourcing approach over time.
We are now looking for one Sustainability Specialist to join the Responsible Sourcing Development function on a temporary basis during a one year assignment , to fill in for a parental leave.
Job Description
As a Sustainability Specialist, you will develop and secure the external assurance setup for IWAY and other sustainability systems and standards (such as raw materials) in the IKEA Supply part of the value chain, to ensure the integrity and credibility of the IKEA Responsible Sourcing approach. You work closely together with internal stakeholders from Inter IKEA, as well as 3rd party auditing companies and auditing service providers.
Main responsibilities:
Develop, plan and execute the program for external verification and assurance of IWAY and other sustainability systems and standards (such as raw materials) in the IKEA Supply value chain, including operational coordination with relevant IKEA teams,
Define effective and efficient ways of working for external assurance setups, together with 3rd party verification companies and other stakeholders
Manage the tactical and operational management of 3rd party assurance companies for external assurance activities of IWAY and other sustainability systems and standards (such as raw materials), including onboarding, competence development and approval of 3rd party auditors
Take active part in the development and facilitation of the global learning offer connected to the IKEA Responsible Sourcing approach, including IWAY and other sustainability systems and standards (such as raw materials)
Analyze results and take continuous learnings from the external assurance activities. Collaborate with IKEA Supply business units and other internal stakeholders to enable the implementation of identified improvements
Analyze external and internal trends, opportunities and challenges in sustainability assurance setups and propose developments in the IKEA Responsible Sourcing assurance approach to ensure continuous relevance, credibility and integrity
Lead and/or participate in development projects connected to sustainability compliance and learning development in IKEA Supply
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you live and share the IKEA culture & values on a daily basis, are a true team player and are open minded. You have a proactive and structured approach, paired with a strong ability to think tactically, while at the same time securing that the operational details are in place and deliver on the total objectives.
As a Sustainability Specialist, we expect you to:
Proven knowledge and experience connected to sustainability compliance and assurance setups in value chains
Knowledge of the IKEA Responsible Sourcing approach, the IWAY System (including the IWAY Standard and the IWAY Framework), and other sustainability systems and standards (such as raw materials) and how they work is a plus
Good project management skills
Good stakeholder engagement skills
Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
