Every year we source over 3 million tonnes of materials for our food packaging. Sustainable sourcing means that we ensure that the land we are responsible for using is managed according to internationally recognised environmental & social standards. We drive for full traceability for our raw materials, with no direct negative land use change, no indirect land use change, and protection of biodiversity.
What you will do
You will be part of the Sustainable Sourcing & Operations team, working closely with sourcing specialists and our suppliers, driving sustainable transformation. You will also collaborate with a wide range of external partners impacting the sourcing value chain all the way to the land used for our materials.
The main focus of this position is to:
· Interpret regulation at European Commission Directorates AGRI, CLIMA and ENV
· Develop our timber legality mandatory due diligence system to include deforestation risk
· Develop our remote sensing capability to increase supply chain transparency
· Work with our base material suppliers to drive transparency in land use
This position is based in Lund, but you work in a global arena. You may travel up to 10-20% of your time.
Who you are
We believe you have at least a bachelor’s degree in either Biology, Environmental Science or Engineering, and a minimum 5 years’ experience in some of the following areas:
· sustainable sourcing of renewable commodities in complex multi-tier global supply chains
· sustainable land use with focus on climate, biodiversity, ecosystem services (at minimum water) and people living and working on the land
· voluntary sustainability standards (Forest Stewardship Council, Roundtable for Sustainable Biomaterials, Aluminium Stewardship Initiative, Bonsucro are relevant) and a good network with their secretariats
· compliance to regulations affecting land use and renewable commodities, particularly legislation drafted by European Commission Directorates AGRI, CLIMA and ENV
· knowledge of the EU Green Deal and experience working with colleagues in Public Affairs functions & industry bodies
· remote land use monitoring data, analytics and Geographic Information Systems
As a person, you are an analytical and committed team player, capable of taking initiative and getting things done. You are comfortable handling change. Managing stakeholders and working across boundaries comes naturally to you. You are a competent project manager and have the ability to see the big picture whilst still being able to focus on the small but very important stuff. You possess good communication skills and have an ability to interact with stake holders at different levels worldwide.
