Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
What we offer
You will become a member of the agile development team, wired SW communication, which is an expert team where you will get access to long term development opportunities in a dynamic environment. The wired communication area consists of a Hardware (HW) team and a Software (SW) team. Both teams have many deliverables which are developed through advanced engineering and research projects. In our daily work, we are working agile (according to SAFe) with 12 weeks of program increments. The team is part of the agile release train (ART) Common Base Technology (CBT), which forms part of the fundament for all electronic control units in the entire electrical system.
The wired SW communication team focuses on multiple wired communication technologies such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet where AUTOSAR is used as a SW platform base but tuned to Volvo Car needs. The team members are responsible for designing and verifying the wired communication technologies through requirements, simulations, measurements and proof of concept from both a HW and SW perspective. The team members work in close collaboration with other teams and suppliers to make sure that the wired technologies are implemented according to Volvo Cars requirements.
What you’ll do
You will work with wired SW communication technologies (TCP/IP, SOME/IP, TSN, UDP AUTOSAR, …) and you will have the opportunity to contribute in the design, implementation, test and education activities regarding new automotive vehicle networks in close cooperation with other team members.
You will use your knowledge within software development to support the organisation with helping out creating new concepts and verification tools, but also other tasks might apply based on the need of the team.
Who are you?
You use your skills and your passion as SW Developer to expand your technical insights and to build and maintain a network that includes people from many areas in the company. You have a holistic view and good mind for SW development, programming languages and tools, as well as system architecture and design. You are curious and want to contribute to develop test automation of our wired technologies. Driven by customer focus you get things done. You are committed to high delivery quality and can proceed your work without having all facts at hand before you start. You are flexible and have excellent communication and documentation skills. You have a positive attitude and are a team player. You are experienced with agile SW development and familiar with software development best practices. You are able to provide new ideas to continuously improve the product and our processes.
We believe that you have following basic skills and qualifications:
• M.Sc or B.Sc. degree in Software Development, Software Engineering or equivalent. Experience in software development (for instance modern C++ , Python and Embedded C). General knowledge of wired communication protocols (TCP/IP, SOME/IP, UDP, …). Knowledge from the Automotive industry and AUTOSAR.
• Excellent communication skills in English both in writing and speech.

• Experience with Automated testing / Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery
• Experience in architecture and systemization of SW development.
• Knowledge of POSIX based OS (e.g. Linux or QNX)
• Knowledge of AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform
