SEM AB develops and produces products that reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transport vehicles. Our vision is to contribute with profitable products that carry us towards a fossil-free society. The focus is on electronic ignition systems for engines powered by renewable and alternative fuels, as well as electronic systems for control and optimization of battery packs for electrified vehicles. We work closely with Lund University, Chalmers, and Linköping University. Seven doctoral students work in our five research projects. Our customers are world-leading manufacturers of components for drivelines in the USA, Europe and China. We are certified according to IATF, ISO 14001 and 45001. The company was founded in 1915 and has a turnover of about 400 million SEK. We currently have about 120 employees in Åmål and are about 75 employees in our production facility in China. The head office is located in Åmål with a small office in Karlstad. The company has Swedish owners.

Who are you?
We are looking for you who are a committed, structured and driven person with a genuine interest in programming and problem solving. In the role of software engineer, you will work throughout the product development chain with requirements, software architecture, software specification, implementation, automated testing and product maintenance. Tests are done in our own lab / engine cell and at customer’s locations.
About the job:
The position is part of the Development department and you are expanding our software team, which today consists of four people plus a number of consultants. The team develops the built-in software for our advanced systems for internal combustion engine ignition, injector control and for vehicle electrification. The software in our ignition systems not only creates an optimal spark adapted to the prevailing conditions in the combustion chamber, but also diagnoses the ignition system and analyzes the combustion. Our ignition systems today are mainly based on internal combustion engines that are powered by natural and biogas but are now adapted for hydrogen-powered engines. In vehicle electrification, we work with systems that optimize battery performance and battery life.
Your background:
We believe that you are a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in software development, preferably with experience of embedded systems and electronics. You are used to programming in C and it is an advantage if you also master Python and / or LabView. It is positive if you have experience from development projects in the automotive industry, preferably in internal combustion engines or electrification. Experience in safety-critical systems is also an advantage. You are fluent in English in speech and writing and you are prepared to travel in the job both within Sweden and abroad. You are easy to collaborate with others, you are unpretentious and you like when several things are going on at the same time.
