System administrator

The scope of the System Administrator is to:
Ensure that the availability of Netsize system meets or exceeds committed In Service Performance (ISP) levels.
Manage system with regards to availability and lifetime management.
Provide internal support, within area of expertise, to 1st and 2nd level support when needed.
Assist and participate in projects together with R&D and Integrations.

The role is responsible for the following:
The choice of platforms
Installation of various supporting applications and Operating Systems.
Handle user account lifecycle management. This includes tasks such as reviewing user accounts on a scheduled basis.
User management with regards to roles, access and object rights.
Keeping Security Policy up to date and making sure it is implemented.
Staying up to date with current and new technologies.
Outline and enforce best practices for Operations and R&D and make sure these are followed as well as improved when necessary.
Proactively keep track of security vulnerabilities and suggest on patching them in timely manner and in line with patch policy.
Keep stage applications and servers under control and in line with production.
Analyze and suggest improvements in all aspects. I.e. security monitoring and maintainability. Plan Application deployments and be responsible for their executions.
Keep applications and system models clean and properly documented with regards to content, ownership and access rights.
Support Infrastructure Manager in planning and patching of OS and supporting applications.
Communicate and coordinate activities with Hosting Company with regards to installations, upgrades and monitoring.
Maintain and improve ISP and availability.
Participate in projects/assignments as appointed by Netsize Operations Manager.
Helping troubleshoot VPN connections when needed.
Share knowledge and information both within the group and to other affected parties as well.
Resolve issues as escalated.

Experience:
The System Administrator must have knowledge of working with Linux/Unix Operating Systems, its setup and maintenance together with a few years of practice.
Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a plus. Competence in Information Security and user management best practice and various standards preferred (e.g. ITIL).
Knowledge of IP Networks and VPNs is preferred.
Broad technical knowledge in related fields, including support and UNIX/Linux shell programming is preferred.
