Right now, we are looking for an experienced System Engineer to help us level up our Infrastructure Services.

Henrik Hjelm, leader of our Infra team (and a tech nerd himself) is looking for you who share his pride for a stable, robust and manageable IT infrastructure. You, who has been around and know the fundamentals of IT Ops and want to help us become even better in delivering XaaS solutions, scalable production environments and reliable core infrastructure.

You will join a dedicated team of engineers, located at Telefonplan in southern Stockholm.

What will you be doing at Nexus?
System admin, IT Ops, SRE; you can call it many things, but basically this is a hardcore, old school system administrator swiss army knife we are looking for.

You will take part in the day-to-day, running and maintaining the infrastructure that hosts production- and end-user platforms supporting critical applications. The work includes:

- Design, build, and maintain the core infrastructure used by all Nexus engineering teams and production platforms
- Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack
- Fine tune monitoring (we use Datadog/Opsgenie)
- Plan for the growth of Nexus infrastructure
- Ensure that the platforms always have a satisfying version
- Work with customer tickets and act as 3rd line support


Because this is a 24/7/365 environment we generally want everyone to take part of the on call rotation every 6-8 weeks. If this is a big issue for you, let us know and we can discuss it.

On top of the day-to-day IT Ops work, there will always be other fun stuff to do and depending on your own wishes this could differ, but might include pen-testing, migration/transformation projects for customers, IT management tasks like incidents or changes, TSP management with CA ceremonies etc. Nexus is your oyster and you will have the possible to significantly impact both your own career trajectory as well as our platforms and the choices we make in respect to them.

Tech you will get to work with: Kubernetes / Containers, Terraform/Terragrunt - IaC is the way we rock! Ansible, Azure DevOps, Virtualization platforms, Firewalls and load balancers, HSM

Who are you?
We’re looking for people with a strong background (and interest!) in IT Ops and Infrastructure. You have been around a 24/7 organisation before and know the drill and take pride in managing a platform that is stable and robust rather than “hip” and “cool”. Don’t get us wrong, we like new tech as much as the next guy, but we know that it’s just icing on the cake. If you don’t have the fundamentals under control, scripting in Ansible is just putting lipstick on a pig.

As stated before, you belong to the old-school crowd and know your way around a datacentre, enterprise networks and in general the iron part of System Administration. This doesn’t mean you don’t have experience in virtualization, scripting and newer tech as well. Just that you are very comfortable with the basics. Due to the current skill composition in the team, we really would like someone with good networking experience for an enterprise environment, this include firewalls and general network security.

As always, the personality is as important as the tech background. If you have made your colleague frustrated for being a stickler for details and risk losing days for deep diving into problems, we salute you! You’re persistent and if you see a problem you will point it out for every single stand-up until it’s taken care of. Or just get tired of your less meticulous team members and fix the darn issue yourself, even though it should be Sven who should have done it, and then make sure that the documentation is so perfect that even Sven knows what to do when things goes south.
