What you’ll do
As a System Architect within Painted Body, you will be part of the ART management team. The role requires close collaboration between Product Manager/Product Owners, line managers and design engineers within the department, as well as across Volvo Cars’ R&D organization on various levels. You will work close together with our four other System Architects within the ART as well as Solution Architects within Vehicle Platform.

You will set vision, define our long-term strategies and technical roadmap within the Body area, this together with a team of experts. You will be overall responsible for defining the body offer supporting the fulfillment of customer attributes such as safety, NVH and energy efficiency, as well as balancing cost. In this, you are responsible for the Product module book describing the BiW´s contribution to the vehicle and value chain.
You also take lead for our part of “geared” in the XFT (Cross functional team) and XFPS (cross functional product strategy).
You, as a senior engineer, will also guide and support our teams to take technical decisions and take on broad responsibility as well as establish a quality-first culture using modern tools and technologies. 
You chair, together with SA Surface Treatment, Painted Body´s Long Term Strategic meeting once a week.
You and Your skills
You have a University Degree as well as proven long experience within body engineering.
You have a proven history of demonstrating technical and people leadership as well as business insight. We believe you already have documented leadership experience including knowledge in agile methodologies and VCAF framework. You can break down complex topics but can maintain a holistic perspective. You are structured, customer focused, as well as results oriented.
The architect likes to be part of change to improve ways for the organization to be successful in everything from technology and processes to networks and collaborations. To be successful in this role you need to be open minded towards innovations, new technologies, new tools, solutions, and maybe most important, other team members. A large part of the work is bringing different technologies and people together into a coherent solution that is well aligned and highly effective. 
To succeed in this role, you seek to continuously improve your technical leadership with the purpose to make others grow and take responsibility for the complete system solution. You are a self-driven and result oriented person with a high level of engagement and a strong enthusiasm. A technical leader who empowers others and creates energy! You possess great communication skills and have by that ability to communicate clearly and concisely. You are fluent in spoken and written English.
