What We Offer
Connected Experience is a unit within R&D. Our vision and strategy are to maximize the attractiveness of owning and using a Volvo, make all cars connected and provide a continuously enhanced experience for both new and existing cars. The agile release train "Remote Functions" is responsible for delivering the remote control aspects of our world class Volvo Cars app. The app we provide allows our customers to, for example, start climate, set charging timers or lock and unlock the doors, either from your phone, tablet or your watch.
What You’ll Do
As System architect you will be part of creating next generation of our Volvo Cars app. You will be part of defining the Software architecture and implementation strategy from configurating the telematics to delivering applications to the car on the street. You will also support the agile teams in defining, exploring, and implementing enablers, provide oversight and guidance, and foster a quality-first culture using modern tools and technologies.
The product purpose is to give our customers remote access to the car from the comfort of their couch. Your focus is on system design and making sure our customers get the best possible system with regards to functionality and quality within the connectivity area.

For you to fully enjoy this opportunity, we believe that you are curious, positive and have a strong drive to engage and support teams and people. Your communication skills are excellent and you value collaboration and balancing of different stakeholders. You have a great passion for working with implementation of the architectural vision. You effectively build formal and informal relationships inside and outside the organization and have ability and experience to create and drive vision and detailing the steps to get there. You use your technical ability and expertise to understand and decide the most balanced system/function alternative and understand the consequences of different design choices in complete end-to-end solutions.
System Architects within Connected Experience need a wide and deep understanding of relevant technologies within development and test of HW, SW and CI. To be successful in this role you need to be open minded towards new tools and solutions.
We see that you have a BSc degree or higher in Software- or/and Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience. +5 years of system design, strong communication skills and EU driver license B.
In addition, you’ll need experience and competence in the following areas:
• System Architecture within large distributed systems
• Mobile App experience
• Experience with both in-car and cloud communication as well as understanding of different protocols used
Meritorious competence and experience:
• Elektra
• SystemWeaver / CarWeaver
• Software development
• Testing
• CAN, Flexray, Ethernet SomeIP, Protobuf, ASN1 knowledge/experience
