Would you like to be part of a team who is working on delivering our most ambitious project ever - a friendly multiplayer world for children where they can feel safe, creative and able to express themselves?

Toca Boca is looking for a System Architect for Online for Toca Days. You’ll be the one who drives the architecture and technological choices needed in order to make sure that it's a scalable, performant and secure platform for the future.

As our first online multiplayer game, it will require a host of online services such as matchmaking, friends, inventory, store and more, to be held together in a coherent architecture.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll own the technical vision and set the strategic direction for Toca Days backend online services. But you won't be alone, you will collaborate with the Tech Director and other tech leads and architects in setting this up.

You’ll support the team by ensuring sustainable development processes and workflows. You’ll support and coach the other developers in the team, which may be in the form of pair programming or building prototypes together.

You’ll work closely together with Roberto, our Technical Director for Days, in setting the roadmap, staffing plan etc.

You’ll be the one to assess if we have the technical capabilities to create the features we want to create and the cost for those. You’ll be responsible for technical reporting and stakeholder metrics.

You'll continuously work with legal to make sure we are following best practice when it comes to regulations such as COPPA and GDPR.
Is this you?

You’re an engineer with previous experience architecting and running live services for mobile and multiplayer games or apps with millions of users every month.

You’ve experience in technical leadership, having run and led teams to develop large-scale online solutions and creating systems that scale within performance and cost budgets.

You can communicate clearly with techies and non-techies alike, having the ability to merge non-technical requirements into a technical solution.

You are well aware of GDPR and compliance regulation when it comes to account systems.

This position is full time and based in our Stockholm studio with a hybrid working model (part office, part working from home). We apply a 6-month probationary period. You’ll need to be located in Sweden as we are unable to support relocation. As we’re an international company, with over 20 nationalities working here, and millions of users all over the world, you need to be fluent in English. Your application should therefore be in English.
