HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a business unit within Hitachi ABB Power Grids located in Ludvika. The unit develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. This developed HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. HVDC is also used to connect power systems. You will be part of a team that is responsible for the overall performance of an HVDC transmission including interaction with surrounding AC-networks.
Your responsibilities
Working at the system design and simulation department.
Working with analysis and optimizations of the system dynamic performance for our HVDC-deliveries including development of control algorithms.
Supporting during testing of control and protection systems in house and at our sites around the world.
The tools we use are mainly PSCAD, PSSE and Power Factory.

Your background
We are looking for Bachelors, Masters and Doctors in the field of Electric Power Engineering or Engineering Physics.
Experience of system studies and/or HVDC and/or off-shore wind power systems is desirable.
You are familiar with the programs and tools we use, such as PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab, PSSE and DIgSILENT’s PowerFactory.
Since we work in an international environment you need to master spoken and written English.
As a person you need to be a team player and work in an analytical and structured manner.
