We are MEVA; Motion Estimation and Vehicle Automation substream. We are a team of energetic and dynamic professionals working in Gothenburg, but our stakeholders and customers are global. We enjoy fika just as much as delivering great technical products. The Mass and Road Inclination team within MEVA is responsible for the development and maintenance of different types of weight estimations for all brands and combinations within Volvo Trucks. This is done for internal customers and functions such as startability, range estimations, driver experience but also connected to different kinds of legislations. The road inclination estimation is essential for accurate mass estimation because road slope affects the gravitational force on a vehicle. It is also important for us to make accurate assessment for vehicle performance, fuel consumption, braking and safety calculations. The MEVA product solutions must be safe, efficient and robust. With the introduction of a modern layered SW architecture, shorter SW development loops and deployments cycles -going from months to minutes, we secure that every release of the MEVA product is safe while achieving the functional objectives

About the role:
As the System Design Engineer You will be part of an agile development team consisting of function developers, function owner, scrum master and product owner. The team collaborate with many teams both inside and outside of the own organization. Therefore it is crucial for You to have the interest, willingness and ability to effectively build formal and informal relationship networks all over the Volvo Truck development departments.
As a System Design Engineer in MEVA organization, you have the following responsibilities:
Lead system engineering and concept investigations in a technical team and play an active role in the delivery.
Realize decided system architecture strategies and roadmaps up to the delivery in the end product.
Contribute to the development of technical roadmaps and system architecture roadmaps.
Secure that system and non-functional requirements are correctly implemented.
Lead critical issues problem solving in collaboration with the team’s suppliers and within the team.
Contribute to continuous improvement on tools, work methods and the development process
Required competencies:
Strong experience in embedded Electrical & Electronics systems, preferably in the automotive industry.
Significant experience in systems engineering work, including requirement handling.
Experience in function and software development in real-time embedded systems, being hands-on of one of several of the following tools: Model-based development such as Simulink, TargetLink,and Embedded programming, such as C/C++.
Good knowledge of modern architectural design principles and patterns.
Knowledge of Automotive standards and practices related to Functional Safety and Cyber Security.
Knowledge of in-vehicle communication technologies (LIN, CAN, Ethernet, diagnostic protocol, SOME/IP etc.).
Knowledge of SW platforms such as Classic and Adaptive Autosar, Linux.
Experience in vehicle dynamics theory and advanced control systems
Experience with estimation techniques and signal-processing in automotive technology
Truck driving license is meritorious
You carry a M.Sc. degree in Vehicle Dynamics, Control systems, Mechatronics, Robotics or similar. You should have a few years work experience in embedded SW development, including SW configuration, debugging and verification. On top of that You need 5 years of experience in Systems engineering.
