System Design Engineer/ Function architect Instrument Cluster

Our team currently consists of 22 engineers with different professional backgrounds, interests and history but with one common mindset: To develop our products and ourselves! With the sea as our neighbor, where a lunch walk along the seaside in Arendal is an energy boosting and relaxing activity, we gather every day to secure the quality and attractiveness of our products in a fast-evolving business.
In our group, we focus on the development of Vehicle Connectivity and Driver Environment. Having a global responsibility, the solutions developed within the team can be found in Volvo buses all over the world helping millions of people every day to reach their destination. Imagine that as a legacy!

As a part of our high preforming, cross functional team you will be a part of the development of Instrument Cluster. You will be able to work closely with different stakeholders within AB Volvo to contribute to the achievement of our goals within Driver Environment for both present and future.

Main area of responsibility:
As System Design Engineer, Instrument Cluster within in the Electrical and Software Architecture Department you will collaborate with engineers from Volvo Trucks and helps us find new ways of providing feedback and warn the drivers when critical issues occur in the vehicle. You will be working with development of an HMI (Human Machine Interface) to enable visual indication of the functional behavior, which provides an interactable, clear and real-time feedback to diver and to contribute to safer roads and more sustainable transportation for our next generation.
Your main responsibilities will be:
Identify, analyze and break down requirements on system and components level
Drive the development of control, communication and services related to the area
Secure strategy compliance, quality and requirement fulfillment
Lead and/or participate in early phase discussions for future development the area

Becoming part of our team is easy. You just need to be a skilled team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills and to be genuinely interested in product development.
BSc or MSc degree in electrical/software engineering or equivalent is highly valuable as well as previous experience of system and architectural design within the Instrument Cluster or vehicle functions area. Previous experience and/or network from AB Volvo are considered as meritorious.
Since you have good engineering judgment and priorities, you have the ability and interest to technically support and challenge colleagues in their work and their mindset. You like to share your passion for technical solutions and you have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. As a person you are positive, you display driving force, have a structured way of working and are eager to learn new skills and driven by self-development.
