About our R&D – Radar sensing platform
Our department consists of around 200 persons that are responsible for the Active Safety platform and enabling driver assistance and collision avoidance functions. We are also responsible for making Autonomous Drive become a reality for the customer.
To make this happen we are working closely with different stakeholders, function responsible, software developers and other sensor team responsible for state-of-the-art LiDAR’s as well as cameras and radars.
Within our team we are working with the Radar Sensing Platform that includes System design, High level SW architecture and SW Integration & verification and selecting our sensor supplier.
Your key tasks
As a System Design Engineer, you will be in the center of the development. You will solve complex problems with an analytical, systematic approach. In your work you need to be able to work in a structured way, adopt to new tools, have a clear communication and has easy to connect to stakeholders. You need to have the ability to balance expectations and needs in coming platforms. It’s a close collaboration between teams working with development of sensors, software, sensor fusion, applications and verification.
This is a broad area which gives you a great opportunity to build a solid and holistic vehicle control view, and develop skills in concept development and requirement writing, planning and coordination.
We are now looking for a System Design Engineer
You will be one member in a group of 30, divided into smaller teams consisting of colleagues with diverse backgrounds. We are looking for someone with a solid system design background who has a passion for system design, radar technology, software and cars!
We see that you are skilled in system safety standards and are experienced with agile development. It’s important that you are a structured and self-motivated team player that will contribute and collaborate. You want to be a part of developing the next generation premium Volvo Cars and lead us into the future.
To be a fit for this position you have a degree within electronics, mechatronics, software or similar and have more than 6 years of experience from system design work.
You are experienced in working with system safety and have knowledge of Cyber security. You are also experienced in working with tools and protocols such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, CAN. Finally, you have previously worked with Python, Simulink or C/C++.
On a personal level, you have strong leadership skills for delegating tasks or directing the work of others. Keen attention to details is important and you are highly organized – especially when planning out a complex system design and the many components involved. You have the ability to communicate and work well with others to ensure functionality in their design and being able to meet strict deadlines.
Finally, you have a Driver`s license (B-level), valid in EU and are fluent in English (speech and writing).
