Purpose of the job:
Join us as Group Manager System Design and be a key player in the design of our signaling systems! Together we develop the sustainable and safe transport solutions of tomorrow.
You will lead and manage a team consists of System Designers, System Architects and Product Owners, focusing on delivering key signaling platform solutions for the global railway market.
This includes:
• Group management of the System Design team
• Allocate resources to ensure timely delivery of development programs
• Follow-up on program strategy and execution
• Continuously improve the way of working, implementing global processes as local methods. Identify, standardize and stabilise best practices, propose deployment across the R&D community
• Lead continuous team improvement, plan trainings and coach the team as well as nurture skill growth.
Your responsibilities:
• Agree on and implement department guidelines with the engineering head and the peer domain leaders,
• Ensure the right application of governance principles & processes and be part of improvement initiatives,
• Define clear team goals, delegate tasks and set deadlines
• Provide support to team execution and drive for decisions regarding issues that affect deliveries,
• Promote and be a role model of Alstom values – agile, inclusive, responsible,
• Continuously motivate, encourage, train and develop resources, in cooperation with HR, as per approved performance evaluation process and targets,
• Deploy new converged governance processes, methods and tools in collaboration with performance manager and quality department,
• Collect REX (return of experience) from programs and share outcomes at department level,
• Manage gaps between estimated workload and capacity, taking into account subcontracting & business strategies,
• Commit in Program/Tender with QCD for the related programs
Your background
You have a strong background as Systems Engineer in Embedded Systems development, and you confidently master the entire system development cycle. Your background is preferably from Rail solutions, but other safety critical industries are also of interest.
You are also an experienced People Manager and leader, and you recognize that your success come from the success of others.
• Master’s degree in computer science, mechatronics, electronic engineering, or equivalent
• Experience in team management or other relevant leadership experience
• Documented experience from development of embedded systems, at least 5 years (mandatory)
• Strong experience in Model Based Systems Engineering and Requirements Engineering, and hands-on skills with the associated tools
• Knowledge of Cenelec Standards for Safety (or equivalent standards if needed: AREMA, IEEE, European TSI, etc ) and safety methodology, concepts and principles
• Fluent command of the English language, orally and in writing (mandatory)
• Command of the Swedish language (bonus) or a strong drive to learn Swedish
