Let's introduce ourselves

We explore the next generation of personal, sustainable, and safe Volvo cars. Volvo Cars are now in the making of a completely new platform to support fully electric, self-driving and connected cars. The heart of the car will be a Core Computer to control the vast amount of innovative functionality and systems in the car. This new design will be present in many future Volvo cars. This will be an important cornerstone for the company to be competitive in the fast-paced transformation of the previous traditional car industry going all electric. 

What you'll do

Join us in Lund! As part of our System Management team, you’ll work with skilled architects and developers to guide and support software design and development for our Core Computer. Our team focuses on areas like software architecture, system configuration, performance tuning, and visualization. We make sure our software meets all requirements for our high-performance embedded systems and help Volvo Cars become more software-focused.

Our department covers many areas, including car feature development, software architecture, build tools, and system analysis. The team is working in an agile way, with great independence, ownership, and trust. We have a warm and relaxed atmosphere where you will be an important contributor to the team. Our software will run on emulators as well as hardware rigs and finally the car itself. You will have a key role in the building of the next generation of Volvo cars.

What you'll bring

You are a software designer with a curious approach to new challenges. You can switch focus between the big picture and technical details when required , have experience in system configuration, providing solutions fitting a multitude of use cases. We are looking for a person who enjoys great teamwork and is proactive, creative, and willing to share your experience and knowledge. As well, as entrepreneurial and can drive issues in cooperation with our stakeholders.  Solid communication skills, both in written form and in face-to-face meetings are important skills you should possess. #LI-DNI

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
* You are self-going with at least 5 years of experience in software development.
* The skills and experience to reason about medium/large scale software systems
* Experience in system configuration
* Proficiency in Python


Nice to have:
* Experience in embedded systems
* Worked in Configuration Management
* Proficiency in modern C++ and YAML experience
* Experience in the automotive industry
* Knowledge in Functional Safety and Cyber Security
