Research and Development

The Security and Body Electronics section, 94230, is responsible for functionality and components within Alarm, Remote and Immobilizer systems as well as the electrical system solutions for Exterior Light, Visibility, Sound Signalling and Locking. The section is part of the unit Electrics/Electronics & E-Propulsion and consists of around 60 people working in four different groups.
The Body Electronic group, 94231, is responsible for creating the system specifications for Exterior Light, Sound Signalling and Visibility. The group is also responsible for the complete development of the Central Electronic Module (CEM), Headlamp Control Module (HCM) and the Rain and Light Sensor (RLSM). We are 12 people working with systems and components related to our areas.
We are now looking for a system designer in the area of Visibility and Sound Signalling. Visibility include wipers, cleaning systems for windscreen and lamps, and defroster functions. Sound Signalling include the vehicle horn and to support the functions related to this i.e. Panic Alarm. You will work to develop the systems in existing vehicles as well as new projects.
You will be the team leader for the area and work close together with component engineers, test engineers and Exterior department who has the responsibility of the wipers, horn and washer pumps.
Main responsibilities:
. Analyse functional and legal requirements as prerequisites for a system solution.
. Develop system solutions and document the system requirements.
. Plan and follow up the system work and verification using LEQM tool.
. Work with S-FMEA to secure quality of the system solution.
. Perform design reviews.
. Create input for signal database, load database and diagnostic database.
. Change Management i.e. updating requirements based on quality issues or functional growth.
. Present proposals for system solutions for pre-program investigations, with associated cost, time and technical consequences.
. Take part of advanced engineering projects.
. Lead the development team of test engineer, component design engineer and software design engineer to secure that the complete system fulfil all expectations.
Required qualifications:
. M.Sc. grade within electronics, physics, mechatronics, or a similar level of education.
. Good practical and theoretical knowledge in Volvo product development process.
. Documented experience from system design for automotive.
. Documented experience from exterior light solutions for automotive.
. Fluent in English, written and spoken.
Meritorious qualifications:
. Experience from Body & Security area.
. Experience from Volvo requirement tool Elektra.
. Good Swedish communication skills.
