We are looking for a System Engineer to join our Electric Drive Labs at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg.
What’s in it for you?
Electric Drive Labs is Volvo Cars’ centre for testing of propulsion systems on component level. We operate and develop propulsion test facilities for drivelines, electric motors, inverters, and transmissions. Our work includes hardware- and software preparation of testing, test execution and processing of measurement data.
The labs are continuously expanding, and we need to utilize state-of-the-art methods to test and verify next-generation cars in an efficient and correct manner. We work closely together to develop the testing of electric machines, electric drivelines, transmissions, inverters, and on-board chargers. The design is changing at a rapid pace and we as a team need to be agile and at the same time deliver repeatable and precise data.
What you’ll do
As a System Engineer you will focus on how to design, integrate, and manage complex testbeds. You will elect, analyze, and document our developing organizations test requirements and required functionality of the testbeds early in development phase.
You will work with stakeholders, particularly the testing department’s different testing team, to analyze the test needs and document the requirements. After gathering the information, the system engineers will consider the complete department’s test needs and have a vital part in upcoming investigations of new testbeds. You will also participate during the complete phase of building a testbed and ensure that lab requirements are fulfilled. This means that you will drive pilot studies, be a part of the specification and development of a new testbed and in the end, verification of the testbed.
You will work closely with the Product Owner for the Electric Drive Line lab and cooperate with your team members to ensure that we consider all possibilities and, in the end, chose the most cost-effective solution in all dimensions.
You and your skills
We see that you have a M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar, as well as experience within validation and verification methods. We also believe you have a background systemizing complex products/test beds that include several HW and SW, such as dyno, climate chambers, batter simulator/cyclers, and electric machine emulators. Previous experience from building up lab environment would be highly valued, and knowledge in Physical Measurement technics of electric machines as well as in Test Automation system both HW and SW is meritorious.
With your eye for detail, but at the same time the ability to always see to the bigger picture, you are the person who will make the puzzle come together. You have a good portion of high-level thinking as well as hands-on attitude. You are a great communicator who easily build new relationships, persistent enough to get the answers you need to succeed. You aim for the long-term goal and can think outside the box to get there.
