If your answer is YES to the above questions, you have found an interesting opportunity! We are looking for a System Engineer, working within the area of thermal management to our Battery electric and Fuel cell machines.
We, at EATS and auxiliaries, are a group of fantastic and dedicated engineers working within several areas, one being Thermal Management Systems towards tomorrow’s zero emission propulsion systems for Volvo Construction Equipment. This is an area we see will have enormous impact on our machines´ ability to meet and exceed customers’ expectations on drivability, machine power and range. We need to grow our competence in the area, and we want you to help us!
EATS and auxiliaries are a part of Sustainable Power Systems. At EATS and Auxiliaries, we have the responsibility for development of hardware solutions for Thermal Management to all of our construction equipment machines. In EATS and auxiliaries, we have responsibility for designing hardware components to the Thermal management systems, we work with simulation of the systems, and do software requirements for the components and the systems. We work together with software engineers in an agile team, taking full responsibility for the complete Thermal management system with hardware solutions and software control. The scope is the complete development cycle from design and implementation to testing in machines and maintenance of released components.
What We Offer?
In the System Engineer role, you will play an important part in the development of our thermal management systems. You will be involved in developing common platform solutions catering to different products/project needs within thermal management area according to our Roadmap and long-term strategy for system development. Activities included are, e.g., to:
Gather, review, and manage system requirements from stakeholders on attributes such as performance, compliance etc.
Derive requirements on system functions to meet needs on product features and desired system behavior
Create and own System requirement specification and Function specification for thermal management
Be part of verification and validation activities to ensure customer expectations are met
Be part of quality assurance and safety analysis activities such as S-FMEA, Hazard analysis and safety concept etc.,
Work closely with architects and contribute to overall architecture design of Electromobility system
Promote system level thinking within the team to establish synergy in hardware and software solutions
Guide and assist in the thermal management agile team with your knowledge about possibilities and challenges to help the team to make a winning solution
Be part of product maintenance of the components and systems
The end application is construction equipment machines such as wheel loaders, excavators, and articulated haulers. The work is done in close cooperation with both your colleagues within the thermal management system team, but also engineers working with driveline solutions, engineers taking care of complete machine development, and purchasing organizations ensuring procurement of solutions.

Who are you?
A curios and enthusiastic engineer with a passion for applying your knowledge in new technology areas where everything is not always defined. At the same time, you understand the importance of finding solutions which can be applied with right quality at right cost and time. As a person, you are true team player. But you can also can work individually within your responsibility area and represent the team.
The job will require a holistic view with possibility to balance requirements in order to find solutions which can be used at multiple end products. In order to succeed, we believe you are a mechatronic, or mechanical engineer who has gained competence within electrically driven components, both low voltage, but also high voltage. You have also gained experience in areas of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), electrical safety and functional safety. You have probably worked within automotive industry, but can also have worked with these areas in other industries. The experiences requested are needed to meet customers and authorities requirements on quality and legal fulfilment for our thermal management systems
Who are you?
Background in Mechanical engineering/Mechatronics or relevant areas
Knowledge and relevant experience in Systems engineering is considered meritorious
Experience or willingness to learn System modeling and requirement management tools such as Dimensions RM, PTC Integrity modeler
Skilled in using tools such as ATI Vision, CANalyzer, Simulink
Good collaboration skills
You are analytical, have a structured way of working, and you enjoy being on top of things. Sharing your knowledge with others and understand that the end solution is the result of many different skills is a guiding star for you.
