System & Function Realisation Engineer - Steering

Electrical Engineering and Chassis (EE&C) is a unit within Research and Development at Volvo Cars. We are passionate in developing technology that enables Volvo Cars to fulfil its aggressive targets to be leading in the areas of Active Safety and Vehicle Dynamics. The Chassis department is supporting these ambitions by developing first class mechanics, electronics and software for Suspension, Brakes and Steering.
We are looking for a System Engineer in the functional area of Steering Electronics to develop future Steering technology.The Steering Software and Functions Group is developing electronics and software functions for Steering. We are looking for a System Engineer in the functional area of Steering Electronics to develop future Steering technology. As a System Engineer you will be responsible for the complete control system including electronic hardware and software.
Main responsibilities
* Development of system requirements and functions in terms of e.g. Active Safety and Vehicle Dynamics attributes, Functions, Legal requirements etc.
* Development of a system lay-out with hardware and software components, interfaces to other systems etc.
* Definition and composition of safety mechanisms to fulfill system safety goal
* Collaboration with System Engineers, Function Developers and System Architectures for interfacing systems to assure optimal system solution
* Support concept and project leaders in developing correct quality assurance plans, balancing of conflicting requirements etc.
Required qualifications
* Master or Bachelor of Science in Electrical engineering, Mechatronics or similar competence through other education and /or professional experience
* At least three years of experience from development of electronic hardware or software for embedded systems in industrial applications
* Knowledge and experience of Matlab/Simulink
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken
* Drivers licence B, valid in Sweden
* Experience from product development in the automotive industry and Volvo Cars is meritorious
* Experience from requirement handling in a database environment, preferably Elektra is also meritorious

* You are communicative and a strong team player
* We are thorough, independent and passionate engineer actively driving your work guided by customer focus and common objectives, not detailed instructions
* You also have the desire and ability to contribute in the work to develop both the team and the work You have a passion for cars processes
* You have a passion for cars, and a technical interest
