System Safety Leader

The section Diagnostics and ECU Platform is responsible for the technologies in the electrical platform that forms the base for e.g. network design, communication technology and the diagnostic system. The group Diagnostics and Dependability is responsible for designing in-vehicle diagnostic systems and delivering guided fault tracing methods to Volvo Car Group global network of workshops. The group is also home for Volvo Car Group's Competence Center within the Functional Safety area. The Competence Center is a key instance in Volvo Car Group's work with sticking to and contribute to the development of the international standard ISO 26262.

As System Safety Leader you will be part of the System Safety Competence Center, dealing with Functional Safety matters within Volvo Car Group. We deliver System Safety expert support in all phases of the product development programs, as well as securing that Volvo Car Group is compliant with ISO 26262. Direct responsibility for system safety design is with System Safety Engineers that are allocated to each system area. Our responsibility is to coordinate and support the work of the System Safety Engineers. We do that by networking across organisational and functional borders. In your work you will gain excellent insight in ongoing development programs within Volvo Car Group. You will build and maintain a network that includes people from all areas in the organisation. You will continuously deepen your insights in safety related functionality. Depending on your previous experience and personal ambitions, you may also be offered tasks like summarising System Safety delivery status for ongoing development programs.

Main responsibilities

* Act as ISO 26262 expert support to engineering departments within Electrical, Powertrain, Active Safety/Chassis and Body and Trim
* Confirmation review of documents in the System Safety area, e.g. Hazard Analysis, Functional Safety Concept and Technical Safety Concept
* Educate employees within different aspects of ISO 26262 and its application within Volvo Car Group
* Development and maintenance of ISO 26262 relevant parts of Volvo Car Groups development process

Required qualifications

* B.Sc or M.Sc in Electrical or Computer engineering, or a relevant experience
* A minimum of 3-5 years' experience of qualified on-board electronics development
* Experience of safety analyses of safety-related products in a vehicle environment. This experience should include participation and organisation of hazard analysis, failure mode effect analysis and fault tree analysis
* Well acquainted with ISO 26262 and its practical application
* Knowledge of statistical methods used for reliability analysis and design of validation test regimes
* Fluent in English, spoken and written
* Driver's license B
* Experience from developing automotive electrical systems development is meritorious
* Familiar with Volvo Cars development process is meritorious
* Familiar with on-board diagnostics is an advantage
