What we offer
Volvo Cars has an ambitious growth plan for connected functionality and autonomous drive. An important part of our efforts is to secure Functional Safety for our products. As System Safety Leader, you will be part of the System Safety Competence Center (SSCC) at Solution Support within Software and Electronics Platform (SWEP). Together with your teammates, you are responsible of providing Volvo Cars with a full-featured infrastructure to enable the development of functional safety compliant products on all markets, educate and guide the organization to excellence within the area. You will be recognized as a key player within Volvo Car’s Functional Safety community. The position is located in Volvo Cars’ development centre in Gothenburg Torslanda.
What you’ll do
As a System Safety Leader you get inspired by our mission to give our customers a better and safer car experience every day. You will use your knowledge and your deep interest and curiosity to promote and enhance efficient working practices and a state-of-the-art in-house competence. As part of the System Safety Competence Center, you will be recognized as a solid reference for Functional Safety across the entire Research and Development at Volvo Cars.
Your main responsibilities include continuous development and maintenance of Volvo Cars’ processes within functional safety, including adaptation to agile ways of working. Educate employees within different aspects of functional safety and its application within Volvo Cars. Support development teams with functional safety expertise across the entire Volvo Cars’ organization. Perform confirmation review of work products in the Functional Safety area, e.g. Hazard Analysis, Functional Safety Concept and Technical Safety Concept. Actively participate to agile ceremonies, e.g., daily stand-ups, program increment planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement. Contribute to short- and long-term product road map definition and execution.
You and your skills
To be successful in this role, you have
• minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience of qualified on-board electronics development.
• experience of safety analyses of safety-related products in vehicle, e. g. participation and organization of hazard analysis, failure mode effect analysis and fault tree analysis.
• deep knowledge of ISO 26262 and its practical application.
• familiarity with Safety Of The Intended Function (SOTIF) and will contribute to SOTIF integration in Volvo Cars’ product engineering framework.
• knowledge of statistical methods used for reliability analysis and design of validation test regimes.
• M.Sc. or PhD degree in Software, Electrical or Computer engineering, or other relevant experience.
• driving license for motor vehicles.
• fluent in English, both in written and oral form.
You use your engineering skills and passion for functional safety to expand your technical insights and to build, maintain and enlarge internal and external network. You build trust, gaining the others’ confidence through integrity and authenticity. You are curious, stay updated on system safety trends in the automotive industry and want to contribute to develop ground-breaking technology. You actively seek new ways to develop and challenge yourself. Driven by customer focus you get things done. You are committed to high delivery quality, and yet have a pragmatic approach. You are capable to start and proceed your work without having all facts at hand. You can quickly react on scope changes of the already planned work. You have the propensity and experience in managing complex problems. You have excellent communication and documentation skills and are used to interact with a large and heterogenous audience. You are a driver and promotor of the safety culture within Volvo Cars and a proud ambassador of our brand outside Volvo Cars. You are experienced with agile development and familiar with software development best practices. You are a team player, actively contribute to a great team spirit and your collaborative skills are crucial.
