We are looking for a passionate Systems Engineer who strives for engineering excellence and excels in constantly changing environments. We are modernizing the way of delivering database services in our data centers. Database technologies will be provided as a service, enabling the consolidation of workloads and technology stacks.
You will become part of the Database Management Services team and be a key player in contributing to the technology evolvement of the area. We are on an exciting journey; developing and enabling new technology services through full focus on automation and self-service capabilities for efficiency, availability and usability. Our team will be represented in Sweden (Älmhult) and USA (Philadelphia).
About you:
As a person you have a proven ability to develop high quality digital services using and applying good practices. You have a curious nature and actively acquire new knowledge and skills, using them to champion new methods and processes to improve performance. On the same side you are happy to share your knowledge and help everyone around you to grow as individual engineers and strong engineering teams.
You have a technical background and deep knowledge from working with Oracle and postgres databases. You have strong analytical skills and the ability to see the high-level picture as well as enjoying working with the details. You have a mature approach to handle changing priorities and communicate complex topics in a pedagogic way.
To succeed as Systems Engineer you have:
Knowledge of the technology domain(s) and its architectural concepts
Knowledge and experience in Development of self-service capabilities for Databases & Platform Services
Experience of enterprise infrastructure architecture in the domain
Experience with Cloud- and Data Center architecture and services to support on-prem / hybrid scenarios and have knowledge around traditional infrastructure concepts like networking and compute
Experience working with code (you would know one or two programming languages, i.e Python, bash and Ansible) and common development concepts such as Git, CI/CD, working with REST API’s to be able to support the developers who you will be interfacing with
Oracle DBA experience 5+ years. RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, Golden Gate and Enterprise manager.
Fundamental DBA knowledge of postgres - setting up Backup, monitoring, Fail-over and high Availability (master/slave, multi-master replication)
Open source DB knowledge - Mongo DB, Maria DB, etc. is a merit
Experience with Orchestrators like Ansible Tower, Terraform or similar automation technologies
Experience working with API´s is a merit
Excellent communication skills and an ability to make data driven decisions
Strong knowledge of operations engineering practices using industry standard toolsets
Extensive knowledge of working in agile/iterative environments with agile practices
Good knowledge in how to develop and optimize the area
You challenge and find better ways; staying ahead, being updated with trends such as languages, tools, etc.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
As a system engineer, you will be a vital part of the team responsible for delivering Database services. You will take part in establishing high quality capabilities and digital services to support consumers across Ingka and Inter-IKEA to be more efficient by modernizing and optimize how applications operate.
You will be surrounded by skilled & experienced engineers and together you will work to implement modern engineering principles, proper tooling and increase automation to enable the specified business outcomes and create a strong digital foundation for IKEAs Digital products and business.
Among many tasks you will:
Drive assignments, ranging from improving overall database- monitoring (i.e OEM,PEM), performance analysis and replication (Golden Gate) capabilities with stakeholders to automating common scenarios and delivering upon defined goals
Review service architecture proposals & suggest improvements as well as producing proof of concepts for improving overall architectures & tools
Take responsibility for cooperation and align key stakeholders throughout the IKEA Group with interdependencies towards Group Digital to assist with developing technical roadmaps and providing new offerings within the DB Managed services area
Create or modify automations through scripting languages using orchestrators and available APIs. Apply best practices in delivering scalable infrastructure for efficient consumption in a hybrid cloud.
Combine systems knowledge, monitoring expertise, and operations competence with programming/scripting skills to innovate, automate, simplify and eliminate repetitive work.
Develop, maintain and enhance automated testing flow using available CI/CD toolsets.
Develop, maintain and enhance the toolsets required for running services
Contribute to development of database architecture patterns.
Automate operational tasks and self-healing capabilities to secure operational efficiency and maintain QoS to consumers.
Ensure that service level fulfilment and business development assignments are performed as per expectation for the area of responsibility
