Systems Engineer power generation and distribution at Saab

Your role

The section for electrical engineering for surface ships is responsible for systems engineering and design of power generation and distribution for naval surface vessels.

As a systems engineer you will be responsible for one or several systems within the electrical area onboard a naval ship such as electrical propulsion, generators, transformers, converters, lighting, batteries and cables. You will work with the whole life cycle of a system, from conceptual design, requirements analysis and procurement to test, verification, integration and commissioning.

The main tasks are:

* Requirement breakdown
* System design and specification
* Technical purchase
* Setting to work
* Test and verification activities
* Customer and supplier interaction

Your role will include commissioning on board and external meetings that may require travelling within Sweden and abroad.



Your profile

We are looking for a person with technical interest within power generation and distribution. You are structured and have the ability to grasp complex issues. To succeed you need a strong self-drive in finding solutions and a customer oriented approach. We would like to strengthen our team with a person who are positive by nature and has the ability to inspire others in their daily work in order to create a pleasant atmosphere.



Required skills:

* Master or bachelor degree in electrical engineering or other relevant education or equivalent experience.
* Excellent communications skills in Swedish and English, verbal and written.
* Social skills to easily cooperate with colleagues within the company, suppliers and customers.
* Having a mind for structure and order.



Desired skills:

* A few years work experience of system engineering, preferably within electrical design.
* Experience from project management.
* Work experience of generators and power distribution.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.


What you will be a part of

Kockums is a world leader in its segment in the development, production and in-service support of submarines, surface vessels and naval systems. The product portfolio includes submarines with air-independent propulsion, warships with stealth technology, minesweeping systems, and high-speed patrol and pilot boats. Kockums also supplies subsystems and components for integration in naval solutions for customers in and outside Sweden. You will be a part of the section for electrical systems and design for surface ships which is a part of the area Electrical Engineering, represented both in Malmö and Karlskrona. You will become a part of a team of nine experienced colleagues located in Karlskrona.
