What’s in it for you?
We are looking for a Task Leader within Vehicle Energy Efficiency to join our Sustainability Centre at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg.
Sustainability is one of the three pillars of our company purpose, "freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way", and it is now as important to us as safety has been since the birth of our company. Sustainability is also a demand from our key markets, they are implementing legislation, taxation, and incentives to ensure that the automotive industry delivers improved Energy Consumption and Electric Driving Range. Therefore, the business impact of the attribute area Vehicle Energy Efficiency increase strongly.
At team Vehicle Energy Efficiency, we are responsible for strategies, requirements, competence- and process development to meet future Electric Driving Range and CO2 challenges. We are about 50 engaged engineers within the attribute, working cross R&D - from energy need to energy sources.
We have taken on the challenge to transform from focus on CO2 emissions to get the best Energy Efficiency in our vehicles. Together we make Volvo Cars one of the leading car manufacturers in the world regarding Vehicle Energy Efficiency and Driving Range.
What you’ll do
As Task Leader, you will be the one who keeps track of our process and procedures to get the wanted results. You will create assignment time plans which meet the overall project plan and coordinate different departments to give the right requirements. You will represent our function both internally and externally and make forecast and set official data for CO2 and driving range at different program gates. Your work will be cross-functional to make sure the car programs reach its expectations and goals. You will also manage and develop the Vehicle energy efficiency assignment with a cross-functional team to secure deliveries and results, and report the assignment status and decisions to the programs and VEE team.
You and your skills
As a foundation you need a Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering degree within a relevant filed as well as experience of working as project manager within product development. A willingness to learn about energy efficiency topics where you might be lacking knowledge will also be crucial.
On a personal level, we believe that you are a structured, analytical and performance driven individual with leadership skills. You are flexible, willing to embrace challenges and you can operate in a frequently changing environment. To be successful in this role, you need to be efficient in communicating with various stakeholders. Having an interest in Vehicle Energy Efficiency is definitely an asset.
You need to have very strong communication skills to communicate the importance of including sustainability aspects in the design process. You are structured, solution-oriented and can take the lead. You are also a true team player with a pragmatic and holistic view. You have the drive to deliver, enjoy interacting with people and understand that collaboration will be key to make real impact.
