The International School of Helsingborg has provided a truly international education at the Primary and Secondary levels since 1995. Job description
Our DP English teacher is taking a period of leave. As a result, we are currently seeking an ambitious English teacher to join our DP team. Would you like to join us?
An International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma English Language and Literature teacher will possess a broad knowledge of contemporary and past English and world literature from which they will select works that engage student interest in reading and speaking English. The teacher will also inspire curiosity about the use and evolution of the English language and the use of visual communication across traditional and digital platforms including, but not limited to journalism, rhetoric, film and social media.
The teacher must be able to encourage independent inquiry and reflection into the literature and media studied in the course and be capable of supporting the development of student learner portfolios stemming from the course content. An IB Diploma teacher must also be structured in their approach to feedback and examination revision.
The IB teacher will supervise 4000 word research essays within the field of English Language and Literature.
As a colleague at ISH, a teacher of English Language and Literature will collaborate with the English department on the development of literature and language teaching. The teacher will be primarily responsible for the development of the high school’s English Literature course offerings, which includes preparatory courses in MYP5 English Language and Literature.
This position is initially advertised at 50%. The assignment includes teaching the DP1/ DP2 English Language and Literature and MYP5(Year 1 high school) English Language and Literature.
Qualifications
You possess a teaching degree within languages and are qualified to teach at high school level (gymnasium). You have strong experience working within the school system.
It is a requirement for the candidate to be fluent in English, both in speaking and writing. The successful candidate will be a strong team player and have the ability to work collaboratively with co-workers as well as students and parents. You communicate proactively; support and care for others. It will be of great advantage to have experience of the IBDP and also to have previously worked within the international school system.
As a person, you are a positive, open-minded and flexible team player. You must demonstrate enthusiasm, warmth and strong interpersonal skills with children, parents, and colleagues and be committed to diversity and multicultural educational practices.
