The Stockholm International School is an International school with 400 students from ages 3 years to 18 years.
Titel: Teaching Assistant
Duties/Responsibilities:
The Learning Support teacher is responsible for the following:
. Assessing the learning needs of students with the assistance of teachers.
. Developing strategies for students to be used by all teachers inter-acting with the students.
. Design individual educational plans.
. Providing information and guidance to teachers and staff in relation to the students in their care.
. Implementing strategies for students.
. Documenting and evaluating the identified strategies used by all the teachers of students in their care.
. Providing support for parents in line with identified strategies for their children.
. Communicating regularly with parents.
. Be a member of the Student Support team.
. Participating in the full range of professional activities in the school.
. Actively contributing to the operational needs of the school.
Qualifications, Attributes and Experience :
The Learning Support teacher is expected to have:
. Teaching qualifications.
. Qualifications in the area of Learning Support (allowing for the fact that different systems describe this field differently).
. Experience as a teacher.
. Knowledge and experience in the processes involved in learning support for students with mild to severe learning needs.
. Able to undertake at least preliminary evaluation/assessment of students in terms of learning.
. Able to work effectively with community agencies and professionals working in the fields of psychology and learning assessment.
. Excellent communication skills.
. The ability to establish rapport with adults and students.
. A sense of humour.
. The ability to work effectively in a team
. A pleasant and friendly personality.
. The ability to maintain confidentiality.
. The ability to function effectively under pressure.
. The ability to show initiative and work independently.
Experience working with students from diverse cultures and countries would be an advantage.
