The School of Arts and Communication (K3)
Research at K3 spans various disciplines, from design and information technology to media studies and cultural studies. Much of our research is conducted as part of the profile New media, public spheres and forms of expression (read more here). Current projects concern everything from co-design and interaction technologies to social media, comics and issues of culture and class. Content and work duties
We seek Teaching Assistants within the first year of either Interaction design Bachelors or first year Interaction design Master education, who will continue their education in the fall of 2020. As Teaching Assistant you will be part of a pool of students with main task to assist the teaching staff.
As Teaching Assistant you will mainly assist staff within the interaction design bachelor- and master educations, first and foremost within mechatronics. Examples of tasks are: Teaching, tutoring at workshops and preparing teaching activities. Administrative tasks and participation in research projects or artistic development work may also occur.
The teaching language is mainly English.
Qualifications
Only students enrolled in either the interaction design bachelors- or master programmes are eligible to be employed as Teaching Assistants.
Following competencies are valued as merits
Priority 1. Programming: Prototyping in digital materials are central in the ioio mechatronics lab and anyone applying for this position should be interested in developing their own programming skills and also take part in related education.
Priority 2. Material and hardware knowledge: Materials such as, wood, metal, paint and electronics are all part of the daily practice and as a Teaching Assistant in the ioio mechatronics lab you should be open to develop knowledge of all, and willing to implement your skills into teaching.
Priority 3. Digital tool knowledge: We are looking for students familiar with computers as a tool for basic photo editing, video editing, 3D modelling and programming.
Note that we value students who are interested in learning by teaching others and develop their skills through engagement in this work.
Selection criteria
Candidates meeting the formal qualifications (above) will be assessed according to the following criteria:
• Ability to work within the teaching-environment in the interaction design bachelor- and master programmes.
• Practical competences shown in portfolio.

Other information
This is a temporary part-time position up to 20 % of a full-time employment, starting 2020-08-03 or start date by agreement, placed at the School of Arts and Communication (K3). This position offers roughly 1,5–5 hours per week.
According to the Higher Ordinance, Teaching Assistants may have up to a maximum of 50 % employment per year and may be extended for a maximum of three years.
