The Swedish School of Textiles is a centre for competence development within the textile and fashion sector through its educational programmes at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral levels in artistic fashion and textile design and technology, business, and management, as well as through its research activities and close collaboration with business and industry. The Swedish School of Textiles conducts extensive research regarding textile materials technology, polymeric textile fibres, textile reinforcement for composites, smart textiles, textile management, and in the textile design area.
At the Swedish School of Textiles, creativity and theory are combined with practical work in our laboratories. We are now seeking a Teaching Technician for our Knitting Technology Lab. Are you our new colleague?

Job description
As a Teaching Technician, you work with laboratory operations, laboratory supervision, and the teaching of students in several educational programmes at the Bachelor’s and Master’s level, mainly in the field of design, but also in textile technology and textile management through, for example, laboratory work and practical exercises. Your duties include introducing students to the equipment, some laboratory supervision, participation in safety and environmental work, and required risk analyses. Your work includes close contact with students, course coordinators, and other employees in design, textile technology, and textile management at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, as well as assisting in research projects. Your position also includes the service and maintenance of the machinery and the purchase of materials for Silver Reed machines. Teaching and supervision take place in English.

Qualifications
For the position of Teaching Technician, good knowledge is required in knitting on Silver Reed hand machines, in Dubied hand-knitting machines, and in linker knitting machines. Furthermore, practical and theoretical professional experience in the subject of knitting technology, or professional experience relevant to the employment in the textile area, is required.
Both the work and the teaching take place in an international environment, which is why you must have a good ability to communicate in English in both speech and writing. Important as well as are good collaboration and communication skills, the ability to work independently and be structured, and the ability to prioritise among and complete work tasks.
Merits for employment are:
• Documented work experience in design using knitting technology.
• Knowledge of programming for Stoll M1 +.
• Knowledge of using Stoll machines, series CMS to ADF.
• Knowledge in programming Shima Seiki SDS and Apex machines.
• Basic knowledge of circular knit.
• Documented work experience as a teacher in the subject of knitting technology.
• Experience of teaching or demonstrated pedagogical skills.
• Ability to communicate in Swedish in speech and writing.
• University degree, e.g. Bachelor's degree in fashion, textile design, or education relevant to the position, alternatively corresponding relevant experience and knowledge acquired from the textile industry, textile organisation, or the like.

Type of employment: Permanent employment, six months probationary period may apply.
