Team Lead - Backend Platform Development

About the Role
As the Team Lead for Backend Platform Development, you will lead a talented team in designing and maintaining a robust, scalable backend for our platform. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise with mentoring and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of backend developers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Oversee backend systems and infrastructure development, ensuring high performance and reliability.
Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless system integration.
Champion security best practices, implementing robust measures to protect sensitive data.
Conduct code reviews and drive the adoption of best practices across the team.
Maintain technical documentation, from system architecture to API guidelines.
Manage and prioritize a clearly defined Kanban-style backlog, pulling tasks as needed and ensuring alignment with business goals.
What We Look For:
5+ years of experience in backend development, including leadership or mentoring experience.
Expertise in Node.js, and TypeScript, with a track record of building and maintaining scalable systems.
Deep knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and web development standards.
Strong experience cloud platforms like AWS
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines , in particular, Gitlab Pipelines
A strategic mindset for balancing short-term delivery with long-term maintainability.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Experience with Cloudflare especially Workers and D1

Meeting cadence: Biweekly sprints, with informal check-ins every other day. We avoid unnecessary meetings to maximize your focus time.
Project management: Kanban-style with a prioritized backlog—no rigid sprint planning or formal estimates.
Collaboration: Direct and informal. A quick Slack message or call solves most issues.
