Team Manager for Agile Embedded Test Engineering Teams for future Autonomous EV
We imagine that our friends, families, and children are transported in a personal, sustainable, and safe way. What we build is a self-driving, fully electric, connected, and super safe Volvo car.
The amount of software in our future vehicles is by far exceeding many other software critical products and businesses. We tend to see the future cars as a computer on wheels. To orchestrate such a huge software-centric system, we both need a computer that is powerful enough to carry all features from control loops to AI/Machine Learning capabilities.
The brain in this platform will be a Core Computer with the capacity to carry a vast majority of electric control units and applications in the car. This new centralized signal system aims to enable optimized software architecture and continuous deployment for further development as well as over the air data updates and real-time decision-making for autonomous drive.
About our R&D - Core System Software
In our part of the R&D, we build the base software on the Core Computer to refine computational power and to enable successful integration with applications. Our teams work in an agile manner organized according to SAFe to be able to quickly adjust to changing requirements.
We work with an a-state-of-the-art embedded multiprocessor environment from Nvidia including hypervisors, Linux, QNX, Rust. We develop our unique test environment with Python and Robot Framework and HIL. The position is located in Lund.
We are looking for a Team Manager for Embedded Test Engineering Teams in Lund
Building the Core Computer is highly prioritized, and our department stands for a ramp-up where we will grow with several new Test Engineering teams. This Team Manager will be responsible for leading test engineering teams that secure full cycle testing in the build of platform technology, diagnostics and software download on the six chips that our Core Computer contain of. You have a solid embedded software testing background, and you have passed years of programming and/or testing yourself. You have a passion for embedded software systems and large-scale software development organizations. You seek to continuously improve your technical leadership with the purpose to make others grow and take responsibility for the team effort. You are communicative and can use suitable value argumentation in dialogue with stakeholders as well as when empowering our software developers.
Team Manager Role Specifics
The team manager for Core System Platform is a part of the product creation process at Volvo Cars and requires deep knowledge of the embedded software development and Agile working methods.You are a servant leader with complete responsibility for the work environment, who continuously assist in aligning teams to long term strategies. The team manager challenges the team to continuously improve by facilitating real-time data transparency such as visualizations of KPIs, Quality Metrics, Test coverage, etc. You will stay updated and drive continuous improvements in tools, IT, flows, and ways of working. Most importantly you will safeguard long-term technical strategies in close collaborating with the product owners and system architects and will proactively work with competence development to assure the right skills within the team as well as recruiting and onboarding new members.
Requirements
We believe that you are a former embedded software engineer who is motivated by challenging tasks in a complex and innovative environment. Needless to say- technology and teamwork is your real passion. You enjoy learning from others, as well as, sharing your knowledge with your colleagues. You are fluent in English and can communicate effectively with all types of stakeholders. You are social, analytical, and problem-solver.
* M.Sc in Electrical and/or Computer Science, Software Engineering
* At least 8 years of experience from working with testing embedded software, committing and testing code as well as and handling requirement within software projects.
* Experience from efficient SW test methods, including automated unit and integration testing
* Experience from working on embedded software in large-scaled agile software companies
* Meritorious
* Experience from building Safety critical and/or Security critical Embedded Software.
* Experience within Automotive and from working in an international environment.
