What we build is a self-driving, fully electric, connected, and super safe Volvo Car. To enable this, Volvo Cars is developing the next generation software and electronics platform that will be base for the next generation’s vehicles. In its essence, it is a centralization of the computing capacity in the car, a Vehicle Computational Unit communicating with the rest of the car through a starshaped access point architecture, Vehicle Interface Units. This will enable execution on the development strategy of running more inhouse- and swift software and functional development, enabling the strategy of becoming a Software Company and foreseen to be needed to meet the future customer demands.

This centralization will require distributed functions to develop and execute their SW on the Core System (computer).

About our R&D – SW & Electronics Core System (ART SWECS)
In the execution of our development strategy there is a need of a focus on balancing and securing the system characteristics for the Core System with all applications (i.e. “SW-on- HW Core System”). The distributed way of working will stress the need of centralized guidance and quality assurance on the Core System level (Core System Platform + SW Applications).

This centralized guidance is to be hosted and driven from SW & Electronics Core System (ART SWECS) with the main tasks of:
•    Set, guide, drive and guard the coherence to the Strategies & Architecture ensuring the Core System quality and performance
•    Manage and balance shared Core System resources.
•    Ensure integration, test, trouble shooting and optimization for the shared Core System resources.
•    Run release- and life cycle management

To support the main responsibilities, the structural/organizational setup will initially have 3 teams. One in each of the areas Architecture, Integration and Release. Each led by one PO and coached by a Scrum master. The manning of those teams is handled by a Team Manager. 

We are looking for a Team Manager for the new organization, nursing the shared resources of the Core System
To succeed with our mission, we will need a Team Manager with solid experience in large scaled SW development, integration and test. A passion for teams as well as for embedded software systems and large-scale software development organizations is needed. In line with our growth strategies, our department will ramp-up, meaning that we need a leader that can hire the right colleagues, create engagement, and organize the teams efficiently. Largest growth is needed in integration, test and troubleshooting,

What will you do?
You are a servant leader with full responsibility for the work environment, who continuously assist in aligning teams to long-term strategies, rapid development and help them grow. You proactively work with competence development to assure the right skills within the team as well as recruiting and onboarding new members. You work in close cooperation with the other agile leadership roles (Scrum Master, Product Owner and technical leaders) to remove obstacles and give each team the support they need to be empowered and able to succeed. 

What do you need to know? 
A M.Sc. in Electrical and/or Computer Science, Software Engineering. Experience from hands on embedded software development, committing code and or handling requirement, integration, and test within software projects . Experience from working on software in large-scale agile software companies. Experience from relevant leadership- and managerial roles. You are fluent in English and communicates effectively with all types of stakeholders.

Experience within Automotive and from working in an international environment is meritorious.
