Visionary wanted! Tech Lead to Scania Ventures
Are you a visionary Tech Lead looking to make your mark in the dynamic intersection of technology, innovation, and sustainable transportation? Do you want to use your skills to help Scania redefine the global transport system?
Look no further! Scania Ventures is looking for an experienced and driven Tech Lead to take our venture-building organisation to the next level.
About Scania Ventures
The transport industry is undergoing a paradigm shift. New technologies are revolutionizing the relationship Scania has with our customers, as well as our role in the transport value chain.
In response, Scania set up Ventures & New Business in 2021 to expand the company’s role in the transport ecosystem through the identification of new revenue streams.
Ventures & New Business’ mission includes managing a portfolio of different tech companies, investing in high-growth companies via our Scania Growth Capital Fund, acquiring start-ups, and even building our own in-house start-ups through our new corporate venture function Scania Ventures.
The Tech Lead role
Reporting to the Head of Venture Portfolio, Tech Lead is a pivotal role for Scania Ventures because you will fast-track innovative, sustainability-driven business ventures.
Being Tech Lead to Scania Ventures not only means supporting the team through technical decisions and coaching but also rolling up your sleeves to design system architectures and code.
You’ll work with individual ventures from start to finish, as well as serve as the guiding light for all our venture teams across our portfolio in defining technology architectures and product roadmaps.
You’ll also assess technology strategies and investment opportunities, and contribute to software development.
Your key tasks may vary over time but will include:
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to engineering venture teams to secure efficient and competitive product development.
• Working closely with the venture teams to define the technology architectures and product roadmaps based on customer needs and technical complexity.
• Hands-on software development in various venture teams to secure short-term wins while balancing our long-term success
• Identifying emerging technologies and assessing their potential impact on Scania Ventures’ portfolio, as well as providing recommendations for technology investment, partnerships, and acquisitions.
Are you our ideal candidate?
We are looking for a determined, curious, and team-oriented individual who thrives on building lasting relationships and embraces new challenges.
You should be comfortable working in a rapidly evolving environment and stay calm under pressure. Proactive, strategic thinking coupled with a willingness to provide hands-on support are key.
You should have…
• 8+ years in product development and technology leadership, preferably in a start-up or entrepreneurial environment, with a proven track record of achieving business growth and exceptional user experiences.
• Doer mentality with strong strategic thinking and decision-making, with a demonstrated ability to translate business objectives into technology strategies and execution plans.
• Excellent technical understanding of both front-end and back-end development, system architecture, IoT, AI, and machine learning.
• Deep understanding of architecture qualities such as security, scalability, resilience, and availability in high-performance low-latency systems.
• Experience in transport and logistics working with innovative and sustainable business models is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written command of the English language.
• Master’s Degree or equivalent, probably in Engineering or data science.
For Scania and Scania Ventures, diversity and inclusion is a strategic necessity. We seek to recruit employees of all genders and backgrounds with the widest possible range of skills, knowledge, and experiences.
Scania Ventures offers you the flexibility to work remotely, either from the Stockholm or Södertälje areas.
