What you will do
Support the team by developing systems that helps the designers with practical implementation and understanding the Technical Design Direction and the Creative Direction. Help the wider design team with technical solutions in the engine, workflows and tools.
You will report to the project Technical Design lead and work towards a mastery of Frostbite, learning how everything works and won't shy away from deep diving into new or undocumented systems.
Needed experience
Experience in design processes, content creation, engines, tools and pipelines
Visual scripting-languages experience
Experienced in Unity or Unreal. Frostbite experience would be good
Experience with code languages formatting, no programming experience needed
Experience in cross disciplinary collaboration and bridging between creatives and engineers
Well versed in modern game design trends and how they function
Responsibilities
Must speak up and communicate any concerns regarding a potential mismatch between goals and practical reality. Can this be done? How hard is it?
Manage the implementation and/or designing of systems, solutions or workflows that can be used by other designers
Set best practices and guidelines for content implementation in the project with quality, performance and stability in mind
Review and evaluate performance and memory budgets across the board
Provide technical feedback to the designers
Coach both new and experienced designers to the engine and the scripting standards
Typical Tasks:
You will identify problems and find solutions
You will support and guide other team members, first point of escalation for designers and programmers
You will lead the development/researching of new workflows and setting up example data for other technical designers/designers
You will maintain and own systems or solutions during production
You will review design, content and the game to ensure consistency, quality and compliance with performance goals, memory budgets and standards
You will review incoming bugs within the technical designer team to stay on top of any issues
You will manage one or more specific areas, UI, game modes, AI, soldiers, weapons, or vehicles
You will often implement scripting or game design work when needed during parts of production
