MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light. www.maxiv.lu.se
MAX IV Laboratory is forming a Technical Division to centralise technical skills and support to serve its mission as an international scientific user facility. This includes MAX IV's portfolio of beamlines, accelerators, and technical infrastructures. The Technical Division will also be central to executing ongoing and future development projects driven by the strategic growth of the laboratory. The new division, which with about 100 staff, will be formed by joining the controls & IT and engineering groups currently organized under the Accelerator and Science Divisions.

MAX IV is looking for an experienced and highly motivated leader as Technical Director.
As a member of the MAX IV management team, you will report to the MAX IV Director and contribute to Laboratory strategy. You will be the primary driver, in close collaboration with the Accelerator, Science, and Administrative Divisions, for developing and implementing the internal structure and working procedures of the Technical Division.
To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications:
• Masters degree in engineering/computing science or equivalent
• At least 10 years in a senior management position in a research or development environment with advanced technologies, leading highly competent technical professionals
• Technical background in areas important to MAX IV, such as: controls software, X-ray instrumentation, detectors, vacuum engineering, automation, high precision mechanical design & manufacturing, electrical systems, or infrastructure for these areas
• Experience working in senior management teams and leading other leaders in positions like Technical Director, CTO or similar
• Experience driving organizational change and development in large or complex organizations
• Experience working in an internationally diverse environment
• Experience in project management
• Written/oral fluency in English
