The primary role of the Technical Director, Cloud and Infrastructure is to support technology-enabled business strategies and operations to drive increased agility, and scalability, and to improve the service quality of the Technology Operations, Infrastructure and Cloud team. The role is accountable for the development of processes to manage Cloud and Enterprise systems operations, assist in technical standards development, assist in architecture development, leadership and employee development.
As a senior leadership position, this role is responsible for the hands-on Technology and Business services for operations and delivery of Cloud and Enterprise Systems offerings. The role will collaborate with Engineering, Architecture, Application Development, Business partners, Corporate Systems, vendors/service providers, and various infrastructure and operations groups to create and support an operational environment for new and existing services supported by Cloud Infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
The scope of responsibilities includes the following
Creates and maintains strategies related to Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud Services (AWS, Azure or Google) throughout the enterprise ensuring all performance and cost curves are closely managed.
Drives the adoption, and articulates the risks/opportunities from leveraging Cloud Infrastructure
Analyze the cloud infrastructure and provide financial updates and optimization recommendations
Lead and inspire an organization of Infrastructure and Cloud Engineers/Architects from several parts of the business, with a goal of driving alignment amongst engineering and partner organizations spanning the cloud.
Build a healthy, scalable, and growth-oriented organization across multiple locations.
Experience in IT Service Management, data centre, server, and storage management, virtualization, networking, systems management, and/or project management is preferred
Professional with experience leading large complex enterprise-wide infrastructure projects/programs with multiple interfaces and/or 3rd parties
Experience supporting DevOps automation teams using tools such as Chef, Jenkins, etc
Has in-depth knowledge in any of the 3rd party Cloud Experience: AWS, Azure and/or GCP.
Standard Infrastructure Experience: Monitoring, DNS, DHCP, Backups, and Disaster Recovery
Experience working as an Operations Manager with demonstrated success in operating mission-critical enterprise software services. Experience launching new services and teams is a plus.
Working with large-scale networks, compute and storage architectures and assisting Tech Infra & Ops team and other Solution Architects devise best practices.
Facilitate teams to critically review current processes for effectiveness, quality and simplification.
Develop and implement process solutions to improve operational efficiency.
Required Skills and Knowledge
Portfolio and Technical account Management
Familiarity with common enterprise services like Directory Services, Virtual Desktop, DNS, etc.)
Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on public Cloud AWS/Azure/GCP
Knowledge of DevOps Methodologies and tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Ansible, etc
Strong Experience and working Knowledge in AWS and Azure Cloud Environment.
Experience in migrating or transforming legacy business/ customer solutions to the cloud.
Highly technical and analytical, possessing 10 or more years of progressive technology implementation and operational experience
Deep knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, technologies and architectures, IT service delivery principles and best practices.
Outstanding customer relationship management, operations, delivery experience and collaboration skills
Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
Consulting practice leadership
Deep understanding of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud computing operations and transition
Enterprise architecture successes including virtualization technologies & distributed architecture
Familiarity with compliance & security standards across the enterprise IT landscape
