What do we offer?
We are a Shared Service within Solution & Architect Team and Vehicle Tophat. Together with our colleagues in the different ARTs we are working in and agile environment, bringing new challenges to our daily work as well as a lot of possibilities. We as a Shared Service are responsible for developing all interior Surface Materials in our cars, such as textiles, tricot plastic, colours, foil, and decos. We are responsible for strategic work as well as implementation in the different car programs. We are responsible for all phases of the development, i.e., annual work, advanced engineering, concept development, industrialization, quality, and cost reduction. We work in an X-functional work process together with Design, the developing teams, and our suppliers. We are responsible to make sure that our materials are producible and fulfils all necessary requirements and testing.
We are now looking for a Technical Specialist within Surface Materials.
What will you do?
As a Technical Specialist (TS) within Surface Material you will have the responsibility to develop and decide on future technology development in the area of Surface Materials with a focus on Sustainable Materials. You will work closely together with our teams as well as the Technical Expert Network at Volvo, but also be part of networks outside the company - with universities and institutes.
Understanding users’ needs globally and new technologies are additional responsibilities. You will follow relevant research within the TS area as well as
• Secure competitive long and short term technical strategies for surface materials
• Proactively collaborate and participate in cross-functional work, both internally and externally
• Leading and planning Advanced Engineering projects
• Give input to component owners to support them to find engineering solutions supporting the company’s sustainability goals and innovative developments
• Be a go-to person for sustainable materials regarding user needs, market understanding and evaluation of future developments
• Speaking partner with our material suppliers regarding future sustainable offers and company foot print
• Develop and maintain relations with universities through supervision of doctorate programs, thesis works, etc.
• Proactively participate in seminars, conferences and conventions
• Main responsible for our internal Surface Material Education
Do you fit the profile?
To be successful in this role we believe you have a University degree, preferably within material development/engineering and relevant work-life experience within surface material and the sustainability field. In addition, since you will work in a global setting we expect you to be fluent in English.
Competence and experience are important, but personality is key! As leader in your area of expertise you have to be motivated and self-propelled with a high level of curiosity for new sustainable solutions as well as future innovations that can be of an interest for our material developments. You need high level of communication and presentation skills, inspiring people around you. For you, deadlines are actually deadlines and you take pride in delivering on time. Also, you have to be analytic and structured and have a good sense for both technical and strategic work.
You have several years of documented experience within the described area. You’re also experienced with planning, execution, data analysis and data interpretation. Experience from working with Life Cycle Assessment would be meritorious.
We are looking for a person with good sense of humour, communicative and a great team player. You need to be self-motivated and always strive for future development and challenges.
