The ART (Agile Release train) Deceleration &Steering, part of the Solution Vehicle Platform within the unit Engineering and Operations at Volvo Car Group, is now looking for a committed and collaborative colleague. The ART Deceleration &Steering is responsible for the delivery of the complete Brake and Steering system including components like caliper, brake modulation, steering gear etc
What you’ll do
Position Roles and Responsibilities:
* Contribute to the technical strategy that describes how today’s vehicles will evolve regarding deceleration improvements coupled with electrification towards the visionary of maximizing energy efficiency
* Initiate and drive relevant research projects to secure technology and methods readiness in close collaboration with chosen academia and consortiums, striving to make Volvo Cars the natural industrial speaking partners.
* Develop and maintain relations with governments, institutes, universities, consortiums and other companies etc. by participating in seminars, conferences and discussions about development, standardization, rating and guidelines. Supervision of relevant doctorate programs, thesis works etc.
* Provide input in the Technology Cycle Plan and annual studies within the specialist area.
* Actively co-operate with other experts’ cross function to ensure that we identify and remove roadblocks from our development road map.
* Support and supervise advanced engineering and research projects.
* Within the specialist area support, review and advise the Volvo organization cross-functionally on to requirements, specifications, verification & validation methods, tools and equipment.
* Maintain personal expertise in the area and follow the research frontier covering competitors, suppliers, academics, etc.
* Assure transfer of knowledge and secure succession by mentoring, coaching and by delivering educational material and carry out education within the area.
* Advise management in technical matters from the point of view "What is best for Volvo Cars"
* Support attribute leaders and system architects in creating development road maps
* On request, support in contact with authorities, e.g. in legal matters.
* On request, support Corporate Communication with press events, interviews, etc.
Do you fit the profile?
* Skills:
* Recognized leadership and technical expertise. Capability to initiate, develop and drive cross-functional work.
* Excellent English skills, verbally and in writing.
* Customer understanding and experience of complete vehicle product development.
* High level of communication through active listening, dialog, and feedback.
Experience:
* Demonstrated personal contribution in development
An in-depth technical knowledge of the braking/deceleration science field/technical area. Documented publication record in relevant technical area (paper, patents, reports etc.).
High level of communication skills and teamwork ability, e.g. invited as speaker, media. * Comprehensive experience from relevant research areas
* Documented Patents / Inventions.
* A demonstrated capability and willingness to teach, coach and be a mentor.
Education:
* University degree, minimum MSc or equivalent. PhD is meritorious
