At Solution Vehicle Platform you will be a key contributor to future generations of outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers around the world, you will create and implement innovative, human-centric technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. The Painted Body, PB department is responsible for the development of body structures and surface treatment systems for all Volvo cars. Development work is mainly conducted within the department and in close corporation with manufacturing, design, suppliers and external partners.
Within PB, we have three groups working within the paint and surface treatment field. Covering strategies, concept, method and material development as well as surface treatment engineering and new colour introduction within car programs.

What you will do
As a Technical Expert, TE, within Paint and Surface treatment, you will collaborate with, support, and advise different teams and stakeholders in the cross-functional global organization.
We expect you to be future oriented and actively participate in strategy work and development of material concepts, roadmaps etc. You will drive and initiate projects, research and investigations that enables us to take important steps in regard of sustainability and future technologies. And you will do this in close collaboration with the teams, academia, research institutes and suppliers.
You will work with material and concepts that gives us the functions of exterior coatings. Today, this is materials as electro coat, primer, base- and clearcoat on different substrates (ie aluminium, steel and plastics).
Educational Background and Experience
We would like applicants to have an M.Sc. or Phd in a relevant area and knowledge in the field of materials development (strategy, standards etc). Minimum 10 years of experience within paint and surface treatment development (corrosion protection and topcoat functions/attributes). It is meritorious if you have knowledge and experience in engineering areas coupled to the automotive industry.
We are looking for someone who is flexible, with a strong interest in technical development and an innovative approach. We also expect you to have strong networking and team working abilities, and with the skills to share knowledge and information.
