At Solution Vehicle Platform you will be a key contributor to future generations of outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. The Painted Body, PB department is responsible for the development of body structures and surface treatment systems for all Volvo cars. Development work is mainly conducted within the department and in close corporation with design, manufacturing, suppliers and external partners.
Within PB, the Body Technology group are 20 persons working with strategies, pre-development, concept development and operational development. The group works with Materials & Joining, CAE and Geometry assurance. We deliver new technical solutions, based upon our deep knowledge of materials, efficient structures and joining solutions for the body structure and final assembly but also with support to new design areas and materials. We now need to reinforce the group with a person working with advanced engineering assignments focusing on threaded joints connected to body, battery and final assembly.
What we offer
We are offering you an exciting job with development opportunities, as responsible for advanced engineering assignments within the threaded joint development with focus on screws and nuts including weld screws and weld nuts connected to a variety of product applications. The job also includes alignment on standards, technical documentation, strategies and development of technical roadmaps. Your network will be broad and stretch from Vehicle Platform and Manufacturing to universities, institutes, suppliers and research partners.
What you will do
As a Technical Expert you will join the Material & Joining team and work with development of threaded joining and its implementation, as a shared service across the company. You will work in close collaboration with our Technical Leader, the Department engineering groups, Manufacturing engineering and Procurement. You will network with design, standard, procurement, manufacturing engineering and other departments in various car programs, sharing technical knowledge and results, identifying needs and means for new technical solutions and educating others. Ultimately you will deliver application ready technologies and processes to new car programs and implement results in running programs.
Educational Background and Experience
We would like applicants to have an M.Sc. or Phd in a relevant area, with knowledge in the field of threaded joints (strategy, process qualification, standards etc) and with some years’ experience in this field. It is meritorious if you have knowledge and experience in engineering areas coupled to the automotive industry.
We are looking for someone who is flexible, with a strong interest in technical development and an innovative holistic approach. We also expect that you will have good communication skills, strong networking and team working abilities, and with the skills to share knowledge and information.
