What you'll do
* The Technical Expert – Autonomous Driving Verification & Validation is responsible for the Autonomous Drive Solution strategy for Autonomous Driving Verification & Validation.
* Contribute to the technical strategy that describes how today’s vehicles will evolve using Autonomous Driving and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems technology towards the visionary non-hit vehicle of the future covering rating, competitors, academia, etc.
* With a holistic view secure that the data tool chain for function/system verification is complete and covers all possible situations/events using real world driving, simulation, real or synthetic data etc. and thereby proving that the car is safe for autonomous driving.
* Initiate and drive relevant research projects to secure technology and methods readiness in close collaboration with chosen academia and consortiums, striving to make Volvo Cars the natural industrial speaking partner within the Verification & Validation area.
* Develop and maintain relations with governments, institutes, universities, consortiums and other companies etc. by participating in seminars, conferences and discussions about development, verification & validation methods, standardization, rating and guidelines within the autonomous driving area. Supervision of relevant doctorate programs, thesis works etc.
* Provide input in the Technology Cycle Plan and annual studies within the specialist area.
* Actively co-operate with other experts’ cross function to ensure that we identify and remove roadblocks from our strategic Autonomous Driving plan.
* Support and supervise advanced engineering and research projects.
* Within the specialist area support, review and advise the Volvo organization cross-functionally on to requirements, specifications, verification & validation methods, tools and equipment.
* Maintain personal expertise in the area and follow the research frontier covering competitors, suppliers, academics, etc.
* Assure transfer of knowledge and secure succession by mentoring, coaching and by delivering educational material and carry out education within the area.
* Advise management in technical matters from the point of view "What is best for Volvo Cars"
* Support attribute leaders such as Safety Center in requirement setting.
* On request, support in contact with authorities, e.g. in legal matters.
* On request, support Corporate Communication with press events, interviews, etc.
Do you fit the profile?
Recognized leadership and technical expertise in the Autonomous Driving area. Capability to initiate, develop and drive cross-functional work.
Excellent English skills, verbally and in writing.
Customer understanding and experience of complete vehicle product development.
High level of communication through active listening, dialog and feedback.
Who are you?
Demonstrated personal contribution in development and validation and verification of advanced algorithms/technologies and transfer of technology in the area.
An in depth technical knowledge of Active Safety and Autonomous Driving. Documented publication record in relevant technical area (paper, patents, reports etc.).
High level of communication skills and teamwork ability, e.g. invited as speaker, media.
Comprehensive experience from research (requirement/methods, concept development, embedded systems, engineering, analysis, verification & validation methods and strategies), authorities and industry.
Extensive experience of new function innovation.
Documented Patents / Inventions.
A demonstrated capability and willingness to teach, coach and be a mentor.
University degree, minimum Master of Science degree or equivalent.
