The group ECU Architecture (Electronic Control Unit) currently consists of 19 people and we work with base technologies of HW/SW realised in the ECU in the cars and surrounding backend systems, such as Software Download, Diagnostic Communication, Network Management, Car configuration, Data Security and Autosar/SW Platform. The section Diagnostics and ECU Platform is responsible for the technologies in the electrical platform that forms the base for e.g. network design, communication technology and the diagnostic system. As Technical Expert Basic Software for Automotive applications you will be part of a central instance with excellent insight in ongoing development programs within Volvo Cars. You will build and maintain a network of relationships that includes people from all areas in the company. Participation in international standardisation efforts might be part of your responsibilities.

Main responsibilities / expectations:

* Lead development efforts within the area of Basic Software for Automotive
* Lead activities in the international standardization community
* Lead global surveillance, including customer needs and benchmark
* Network with external organizations and peers
* Support organization with facts and experiences, scientific and strategic input
* Teach, mentor and coach, secure up-to-date competence in continuity
* Being a Volvo Car Group spokesperson for the area
* Define research projects and working with academia and partners
* Deliver on annual basis a documented Vision, Mission & Strategy within TS (Technical Specialist) area
* Deliver on annual basis a Benchmark report covering competitors, suppliers, authorities, etc
* Deliver TCP (Technical Cycle Plan) within Technical Expert area
* Deliver Research work to define New Requirement Specifications and Corresponding Verification/Validation Method
* Secure Technology Readiness by Initiating and supervise Advanced Engineering and EU projects
* Secure Process, Methods & Tools Readiness by Initiating and supervise Operational Development projects
* Deliver education material and carry through education within TS area

Required qualifications

* MSc degree in Electrical or computer engineering or equivalent experience
* At least 10 years of work and recognised leadership within the area of Basic Software for Automotive applications
* Experience in all program phases from Pre-Program through launch
* Demonstrated personal contribution in development of advanced technologies/ processes and transfer of technology.
* Demonstrated capability and willingness to teach/ coach/ mentor and docum
* ent technical knowledge, e.g. conference papers, education material.
* Demonstrated capability to lead an international team in the delivery of technical objectives
* Demonstrated high level of communication skills and teamwork, e.g. invited as speaker, media, communication with suppliers, authorities etc.
* Demonstrated initiative & capability to provide leadership/support to peers & management, within the technical area, to assure the delivery of transfer of technology and/ or programs.
* Excellent skills in English, both verbally and in writing
