Advanced Engine Design is a group within Advanced Engineering department for Engine Engineering. We design complete prototype engines for rig testing and demonstration vehicles. This includes leading and executing research that will lead to the definition of engine design and installation. We work in the Advanced Engineering phase creating several technical solutions, main & back-up to hand over to the concept team. Furthermore, we work in compliance with manufacturing, NVH and DLI towards durability, cost and weight. The group consists of Senior/principle design engineers or design experts who together have to fulfill the engineering, design and research of eight engine functions: structure, power-conversion, engine transmission, intake and ?p, exhaust and UI, heat transfer, sensors and control, and packaging and design of rapid prototypes.

As a Technical Expert you will operate within Volvo Car Group and lead the strategic direction for the competence area in boosting and gas exchange. You will be recognised as a go-to person regarding gas-exchange and engine boostingwithin Volvo Car Group Powertrain included in this role is system engineering and research of gas exchange for gasoline and diesel engines, including boosting systems. You will act as a "go to person" for advice.

Main responsibilities

* On annual basis deliver a Vision & Strategy document on engine boosting and gas-exchange
* Secure succession within Volvo Car Group by proactively provide mentoring, coaching etc.
* Actively participate and contribute in Adv. Engine programs as well as in Concept and Indus phase.
* Proactively inform different Volvo Car Group departments about latest research and findings within engine boosting and gas-exchange area
* Proactively support different departments concerning engine boosting and gas-exchange Test method development within Volvo Car Group
* Proactively support/lead the CAE method development within engine boosting and gas-exchange
* Initiate and maintain cooperation with Universities regarding the field of engine boosting and gas-exchange
* Deliver investigations concerning engine boosting and gas-exchange
* Deliver education material and hold lectures on engine boosting and gas-exchange
* Initiate annual studies on engine boosting and gas-exchange
* Secure Technology Readiness by initiating and supervise Advanced Engineering and EU project
* On request, advice line and project management in technical matters form the point of view "What is best for Volvo Cars"
* Support in contacts with consultants and suppliers concerning engine boosting and gas-exchange

Required qualifications

* MSc or PhD within the field of engine related fluid dynamics and combustion
* Extensive experience in the field of knowledge
* Demonstrated personal contribution in development of advanced technologies/processes and transfer of technology
* Demonstrated capability and willingness to teach / coach / mentor and document technical knowledge
* Recognised leadership in relevant technical specialty
* Technical publications and or patents
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
