What we are looking for
Uniper has in its Swedish portfolio four nuclear plants at the sites at OKG and BKAB that are being decommissioned. To serve the growing European market of nuclear dismantling and decommission, Uniper, in cooperation with Fortum, are building capacity and capability to provide experienced service to which the Swedish project, among others, will serve as a reference.
We are looking for a technical expert within radiation protection to support us with dismantling and decommissioning of nuclear facilities at OKG and BKAB.
We are executing the NDD in close cooperation with our customers as we all have the same goal, to finalize the project in accordance with the requirements and expectations. This means that we work together as one team. We have high focus on delivery and expect high performance and transparent communication on risks. Safety, both conventional HSE and radiological safety is highly valued and expected to be part of the planning of the execution of the work packages.
In addition, since we are building a new business as NDD suppliers on the European market, support is expected within our tendering/execution work to potential/new customers.
Depending on your skills and experience you will have the opportunity be senior or leading waste expert within radio physics.
The position placement is open for discussion but regular work at sites is expected as well as business travelling.
Uniper is part of Sweden's critical infrastructure, and our business is covered by, among other things, rules related to protective security, export control and nuclear non-proliferation. We will therefore carry out security clearance of all positions and complement with register control for security classified positions, according to the Protection Security Act. Health and drug tests are performed.
What you will be working with
As our expert on radiation protection, you will be working mainly with the preparation of work packages. You will follow up our performance and follow up on incident improvement in our way of working and safety culture.
Based on radiological characterization you will support the development of methods for dismantling and decommission and packing of waste that are optimal form a cost, time, HSE and dose, perspective. Your input are the boundary conditions for the planning of the work and you are part of the team of different expert to develop our way of executing the dismantling and decommission of the plants.
In addition, you will support the measuring staff on sites on when challenges or deviation arise in the waste that has been produced and/or packed.
Your skills may also be used by our external branch in preparation of tenders or execution of work to external customers.
Your work includes but not be limited to:
• Develop and implement D&D methods based on ALARA principle.
• Work with development of D&D sequence that fulfils radiological requirements as well as HSE requirements.
• Support with waste and logistics management.
• Interact and cooperate with our customers organization on requirements and expectations on radiological issues.
Who we are seeking
You have a higher technical degree in radio physics or otherwise gained experience relevant experience to this job. We value if you have relevant experience in radiological protection to support the work in developing and identifying the different working methods and equipment and packaging.
Experience from radiation protection in nuclear power plants valued but not mandatory. Our ambition is to optimize the work in order to minimize impact on environment versus cost and time.
We are working in an international environment, and you must be comfortable in both leading meetings, produce presentation and participate in social situations in English.
As a person you have a high level of integrity, reliability, and personal drive as well as a high level of commercial awareness. You engage in problem solving and you conduct the work with strong sense of responsibility, high efficiency, integrity, and transparency. We expect that you have:
• Personal skills, experiences, and ability to do radiological characterizations, methods for radiological measurements, identify and develop method of packing and packing solutions, for D&D based on ALARA principle, as well as conduct technical investigations.
• Relevant experience from nuclear dismantling and decommissioning.
• Insight and understanding of Swedish radiological laws and regulations.
• Open mind and find solutions to problems in a team spirit.
• Good communication skills both in Swedish and English and be able to communicate with people at all levels unhindered and collaborate in groups.
• Good skills in digital tools from Microsoft software series.
• Good social skills and be able to work with people from different backgrounds and competences unhindered.
