Volvo Cars is bringing more of the software development in-house to better handle continuous integration and the complex interactions between different functions. Connectivity is an enabler for most vehicle functions but also introduces privacy and cybersecurity risks that needs to be managed through innovative and robust designs.
We are now looking for aA Technical Expert in Privacy Engineering , you will be is a key person in ensuring Data Ethics by Design while enabling all our development and service operation to be data driven. Through expertise on Privacy Enhancing Techniques as well as solid understanding of cybersecurity and software engineering (embedded as well as cloud), you will guide the development organization in selecting the best system solutions in this area.
For this role we can offer freedom of choice in terms of location, Stockholm, Lund or Gothenburg, it is up to you!
What you’ll do
Working with Privacy Engineering means covering methods, tools, technologies and software architectures to ensure a strong level of privacy for the customer.
You will be a part of a network of technical specialists and architects with different domain expertise, e.g cybersecurity , data science, software engineering. Your main responsibilities will be to:
• Propose and develop architectural design patterns, methods and processes for Data Privacy By Design.
• Provide technical subject matter expertise on personal data protection, requirements as well as technical development and state of the art in the area.
• Evaluate and recommend suppliers and tools in the area.
• Develop the organization’s knowledge by teaching, mentoring and coaching related to privacy engineering.
• Support in creating awareness of Privacy Engineering in the organization.
• Actively work together with academia, research institutes and key partners in the area to advance the state of the art and to strengthen the knowledge within the company.
Do you fit the profile?
For you to fully enjoy this opportunity, we believe that you have a background in software or information technology with at least a Master’s Degree or equivalent.
You have a long professional experience in Privacy Engineering and an excellent knowledge in and hands-on experience of software development and software architecture (embedded and/or cloud). You have a proven ability to analyze and make recommendations for technical design, to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders and to drive continuous improvements.
You have a strong passion about protecting the privacy of the customer combined with a business acumen and technical know-how that allows you to help the organization to find ways to use relevant data in a responsible way through Privacy Engineering.
You have an excellent knowledge of data protection matters under EU data protection law and preferably also under California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), a good understanding of privacy transparency requirements and good communication and training skills to educate developers and managers throughout R&D on the topic. An internationally recognized privacy certification such as Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) or similar is considered a merit.
