Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.

Where you’ll belong
At Sustainability Centre we strive to find a way to effectively analyze and evaluate our cars’ energy efficiency and the company’s sustainability. A real-world environmental impact is in focus in everything we do. By securing knowledge we become leading in sustainability, aligned with institutes and authorities we contribute not only to the future mobility but also a safer planet.

Are you an innovator, who shares our passion for sustainability and are ready to take the lead? Then the role as Technical Expert for Sustainability Climate Action is the role for you to prosper.

In this role, you will be one of the “Sustainability Architects” within the strategy team called Sustainability Architecture Team at Sustainability Center. You will work closely with the development teams within Product Creation (R&D), but also with other parts of our global organization as well as with external researchers.

Your Contribution
You will be responsible for Climate Action within Product Creation, including carbon footprint from raw material acquisition to complete components within our vehicles (shortly called material) as well as the carbon footprint from the use phase.

You will set long-term visions and define what challenges need to be addressed next as well as driving the change across the company. You will be responsible for the Product Creations strategic agenda with respect to Climate Action and provide input and support in other areas. You will also serve as the internal expert for Climate Action and communicating and educating others on sustainability topics.

In close cooperation with other experts within Sustainability Center, Global Sustainability Team and Procurement Sustainability Team you will deliver activities and roadmaps reaching Volvo Cars Climate ambitions for 2025 and 2040. You will also drive our overall target setting, based on LCA, for vehicles in line with our carbon reduction targets.

Competence is Important
You have at minimum a Master of Science preferably a Ph.D. within the area of Sustainability, preferably within Carbon Footprint and LCA. You have an understanding of how LCA’s are performed, possess datasets and tools knowledge.

You have extensive experience in the area of Sustainability and have previously worked with Climate Action within the industry, preferable within Automotive so that you also have gained knowledge within vehicle energy efficiency. Setting strategic agendas and roadmaps are things you are comfortable with. You understand/analyze external drivers, set priorities, and drive creative and effective strategies to achieve corporate objectives.

Personality is Key
You are a visioner that loves to motivate others, as well as making things happen. You have the ability to focus on what’s best for the planet and what works for the company: taking the next step while not losing sight of the bigger picture.

You are a recognized leader with technical expertise in the carbon footprint area, known to bring sustainability innovation. You have the broad network within academia and industry needed in order to fully succeed. You inspire, build consensus, and work collaboratively across all functions and at all levels of a global organization. You enjoy mentoring others and are used to take the role to be a teacher.
