What we offer
At Volvo Cars´ there are several teams that uses CFD in their daily tasks, they work with areas like Climate, Thermal Efficiency, Contamination, Aerodynamics and High Voltage Batteries. As a
technical leader in CFD you will support all these teams and their individual specialists and share your knowledge and expertise with them.
You will be part of the technical expert’s council and be involved in the technical strategy work for the entire company.
What you’ll do
Your daily tasks will consist of
• Supporting and mentoring technical specialists within areas where CFD is used
• Creation and maintenance of a long-term CFD strategy, roadmap, and technical insight for CFD
• Initializing and driving benchmarks for all aspects of CFD-simulations
• Formulating and initializing method development of new and existing CFD methods to ensure at we perform our simulations according to latest state-of-the-art
• Driving automation initiatives to ensure that CFD simulations are performed with minimal effort and with consistency
• Driving internal activities/initiatives to optimize CFD-simulations in terms of speed, accuracy, and automation
• Represent the company at internal and external technical meetings and in working/research groups
• Provide coaching, guidance, and education within the area of CFD
• Promoting CFD internally, to spread knowledge and potential in using CFD to replace physical testing or improving areas where CFD is absent, e.g., manufacturing
• Collect inspiration and knowledge from relevant areas outside the automotive industry through participating in conferences, expert panels, and other similar activities
• Maintain personal expertise in the area and follow the research frontier covering competitors, suppliers, academics, etc.
• Supervising PhD projects and thesis work within CFD
• Promoting Volvo Cars at universities to attract students interested in pursuing a career within CAE/CFD
You and your skills
You have experience from vehicle project work, CFD simulations as well as physical verification of a complete vehicle in wind tunnels and on roads/tracks. It is also important to have a large network within the CFD-community, both internally as well as globally.
We see that you have proven experience from initiating and leading research projects, both internally and together with external partners, such as universities and other OEM’s and your educational background is a Ph.D. within Fluid dynamics or CFD.
You need excellent English skills, both verbally and written and your communication skills are very well developed.
