What we offer
Volvo Cars has an ambitious growth plan for connected functionality and autonomous drive. An important part of our efforts is to secure System Safety for our products. System safety is a subset of product safety concerning the usage of SW and Electronics technology in a safe manner to prevent unreasonable risk for injuries. Safety related functionality in our products is growing driven by the increased use of SW and Electronic control in mechatronic systems, and System Safety is therefore a crucial enabler Autonomous and Electric Drive.

System Safety is expanding from Functional Safety (FuSa), incorporating safety in case of malfunction, to also include Safety Of the Intended Functionality (SOTIF), which focuses on safety without malfunctions.
For the company, there is a need for research, benchmarking, workflow optimization initiatives and method development for R&D to ensure safe usage of the technology and state-of-the-art practices in the vehicle content development.

What you’ll do
As System Safety Technical Leader, you will be part of the System Safety Competence Center (SSCC) in the Enabling Agile Release Train (eART) Software and Dependability at Solution Support within Software and Electronics Platform (SWEP). 

The eART also includes competence areas Software Engineering Process/Methods/Tools, Software Quality and product Cybersecurity. As System safety Technical Leader you have a determinant role in facilitating common integrated framework in nominal software, safety and security together with the other Technical Specialists in the other areas of expertise within the eART.  You shall give a major contribution in creating and maintaining the long-term strategy, roadmap, and technical insight for the System Safety area, formulate and initiate method/process/tools development to ensure Volvo Cars adherence to state-of-the-art, method/process efficiency and effectiveness, within System Safety.

You and your skills
You are a genuine coach providing guidance and education within System Safety, share knowledge from relevant areas even outside the automotive industry through participating in conferences, expert panels, and other similar activities. You are expected to be a mentor for other system safety experts and doctoral graduate students, give guest lecturers in universities, research institutes and consortiums to maintain a sustainable collaboration with the academical and industrial world. You are thereby expected to have proven capability and willingness to teach/coach/mentor and document/present technical knowledge within system safety. 

You are a true ambassador of Volvo Cars Safety Culture, on both engineering and management level and represent Volvo Cars at internal and external technical meetings and in working/research/standardization groups. Excellent collaboration and communication skills are crucial. You have a well proven complete vehicle experience, a comprehensive network within authorities, industry, research institutes and universities. 
You have experience from initiating, leading, and participating in research projects and standardization work, both internally and together with external industrial and academic partners, and capability to lead a network of highly skilled individuals. You have a Ph.D. within relevant area (safety engineering of SW, computer engineering or electronics).
