Starting with one of Outokumpu’s biggest stainless steel production sites, Avesta’s team has built on Outokumpu’s legacy of advanced material steel making and added the special grades expertise to serve the market with an unmatched passion for producing high quality stainless steel.
Outokumpu Stainless Steel in Avesta is now looking for a Technical Manager to join the team for the processes Annealing & Pickling, Cold Rolling and Finishing Lines.
Responsibilities:
Coach, mentor, and technically assist your team which is responsible for the Avesta stainless steel producing methods, consisting of experts of the processes who work closely to the production.
Lead the development of process methods and investments to achieve the goals of the operation regarding quality, energy, environment, and process time- and cost.
Identify potential risks before they become a problem, focusing on root cause analysis and preventive action for equipment, process, and people.
Handle emergent machine or system malfunctions.
Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
Coordinate the investment process of the operation.
Prioritize R&D-work at referred department.
Secure the resources needed for teams to excel, including researching, and proposing capital investments.
You are part of a management team within technique and quality and the management team for the department.
Establish and secure relations and communication internally within Outokumpu as well as with external partners.
Requirements:
Master of Science in materials technology, machinery or chemistry, or by employer viewed as equivalent.
Experience in leadership from a previous role.
Communicate effectively and efficiently in Swedish and English, in oral and written forms.
Experience in quality management systems is an advantage.
It is considered an advantage if you have previous experience in similar industry.

Must have the ability to analytically evaluate data and information, use progressive problem-solving methods and implement solutions.
Good attention to detail and the ability to make long-term strategic decisions that will positively impact the process and the people working in the operation.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured way.
Flexible thinking, including the ability to pivot and try new approaches when faced with challenges
Great collaboration and coaching skills, and ability to communicate clearly and active listening.
