The Position
Avalanche Studios Group is looking for a Technical QA Engineer to join our Central Tech team at our Stockholm office. You will be working closely with many different teams across different locations to help to improve the test and development processes, and proactively provide support as needed.
Your primary goal is to achieve a high level of quality for our Central Tech team, creating and maintaining a quality program of extensive end-to-end tests, integration tests, and release/change management processes. You will become a driver of the quality process and an expert of the Apex engine with all its associated in-house and 3rd party tools.
This position owns the testing process, risk management, and quality evaluation of a given feature, function or set of tools, where you will be part of a rapidly iterating development team working closely with developers and production.
Main tasks
- Work with Product Owners, Developers and QA Leads to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features / releases
- Using a mix of manual and technical testing skills to execute a variety of testing techniques to analyze the quality. Reporting bugs into the bug tracking system with concise repro steps
- Regressing bugs daily in the database
- Performing daily validation checks throughout all development phases
- Creating and modifying test cases
- Providing weekly status updates and trends to Central Tech Management
- Compiling lists of any defects or design issues found during testing
- Support developers before, during and after deployments
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of QA testing experience from the video games industry.
- Experience with game engines, content and asset editors, software tools, and shared technologies.
- Familiarity with any source control, debuggers, and other software development tools (e.g. Perforce, Visual Studio, etc).
- General understanding of popular programming languages
- Understanding of build systems, continuous integration, unit tests, automated functional tests, and testing frameworks.
- Experience with QA practices, methodologies, and bug prevention strategies.
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Excellent English (written and verbal)
- High social skills and great at communication
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with development planning tools and defect tracking tools (e.g. Hansoft, JIRA, DevTrack, TestRail, etc).
- Experience as a Tester on at least 1 - 4 released software products is preferred
- Knowledge in any of these areas
- SQL & MongoDB, and the ability to query databases
- Game Engines or 3D toolsets
- Backend servers and APIs
- Games as a Service
- Audio tooling and performance
- Prior experience with test automation tools
