Technical writer

Job description
Do you want to be a part of a group that maintains technical documentation that supports products manufactured for aerospace and/or defense industries. We are now looking for a technical writer for our client  in Uppsala.

The group writes, edits, and lays out the material for production in print and digital formats. They work closely with R&D project teams to develop content for new product introductions. The team is also involved in the updating of existing material.

The team interacts with Product Marketing, R&D, Marketing Communications, Sourcing, Quality and Manufacturing. In general, the scope of work required covers all aspects of producing print‐ready files and digital versions of technical documentation (also known as instructions, pack leaflets, user manuals, safety instructions, installation guides, getting started guides, cue cards, short instructions, method handbooks, online help, and related materials).

This work includes:
• production of new technical documentation for new product introductions (NPIs)
• updates of existing technical documentation.

Qualifications


MSc degree preferably in engineering and/or related field.
1+ years of progressively responsible experience in the writing, editing, and production of technical documentation (e g. user manuals).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability in original technical writing, document organization, document reorganization; experience editing others’ work.
Proficient in desktop publishing tools including Adobe FrameMaker, Photoshop and Illustrator.
Experience with online help and XML publishing beneficial.
Experience of content management systems a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
As the written work may be in Swedish or in English, fluency in one or both of these languages, both verbal and written.
Experience of technical writing for the aerospace/defense industry a benefit.
Knowledge of S1000D a benefit
